We booked and stayed at this Hilton Property twice within 3 weeks due to a family emergency.
The first stay in late March was mediocre, but serviceable. The front desk staff was very pleasant.
The "free" breakfast was bad and chaotic, but the second time we visited made the first time look like a trip to Monaco.
I have been a preferred/gold, now silver Hilton Honors member since 1992 and have stayed in Hilton properties as disparate as the Palmer House in Chicago to the Hampton Inn in Gainesville , FL. and have always gotten the same level of excellent service until the second stay at this Embassy Suites-USF.
We had a long day driving in from Atlanta and were dog tired. As we opened the sofa bed for my teen, we found dried snot n the sheets and other various dried detritus on the blanket.
When I called down to "guest" services, and told them what I was holding, I basically got blown off by this guy on the night shift (About 1100 PM). Not once did he apologize for this gross find, but he treated me in a very condescending manner and made me feel as though I was interrupting his night. I once again asked for replacement bedding and was told that "It's late and I'll get to it when I can"..Lovely, after about 20 minutes, my wife called down again and he was even more rude to her. Honestly, he is lucky that I was so beat, otherwise I would have gone downstairs and given him some New Jersey.
When the "fresh" (and I use that word loosely) bedding eventually showed up, the guy didn't even want to take the snot -filled stuff with him...In addition, the room smelled like someone had poured an entire gallon of ammonia in the bathroom, so net-net a 4 day stay turned into a check out the next day..After we fought through the near-riotous crowds in the dining area arm-wrestling over the last stale waffle....All -around worst experience I have ever had at a Hilton property.
We then checked into a nearby Hilton Suites on Fletcher Avenue and the staff and accommodations there saved our stay.
Don't know what turned this Embassy Suites into the Amityville Horror, but stay away.
