I know some people take these reviews too far but this is factual, true, and unfortunately honest!
My brother's family and mine stayed here for a little get away to go to Busch Gardens. We thought it would be a great place to stay - bad idea. Our first night was okay, the room was comfortable but the "remodeling" left a lot to be desired.
Okay - so not too bad - we thought - then came the next day where while we were gone someone stole two items from our room. We tried to contact management by calling the front desk (still during the normal business hours) and were told "the manager is not on-site at the moment". We explained what had happened. The front desk told us that they would notify the manager but the manager would not be back until tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. So we waited until then, no manager showed up by 10:00. We went to the house keeping staff and asked them - got the run around. Manager of house keeping brought the staff in one by one and asked if they cleaned our room? Of course no one said they did. We were told to go back to our room and the manager would show up with in the hour. Nope - no manager for an hour an a half. My wife, the Capricorn that she is, stormed the front desk and was able to find the manager's wife. She finally came to our room and stated that there was another burglary on site and that the called the police but the police couldn't come until 7:00p.m. that night. We gave our phone numbers and told them to call us if they needed anything - she said "great". Never heard anything all the way up until we checked out! No manager called us - we finally convinced the front desk attendant for us to talk with the manager - all he could do is give us a $20 credit for one of the stolen articles (which we stated earlier to them was a $50 article). We left without paying but they charged our accounts anyway.
It gets better - we called Days Inn corporate about 3 times - they took our information/complaint down but never called us to follow up. We called them again and then they stated "since it was a burglary" and since this hotel is individually franchised there is nothing they can do! We have to contact the hotel's manager again and try to speak to them about the issue.
Okay, not only that - We called the Tampa police to obtain the police report about the stolen articles at this hotel. Go figure - there was never a police report (nor even a phone record) and the police would never tell this hotel that they couldn't come over until 7:00p.m. that night to investigate a burglary! The manager lied to its customers!
Please, if you have any thoughts about staying here please do not! We are currently trying to go through Days Inn Corporate to tell them that they should DROP this hotel! Don't always go with the cheap hotels or you will wind up having to go through the legal battle that we are experiencing!
