“This place is great!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

Very nice place! We were staying for a convention. Stayed for 4 nights. It's everything you would want in a hotel. It's well maintained. It's clean. It's quiet. It's comfortable. Staff is friendly (mostly one bar server was in a atrocious mood one night because it was busy but she was in a better mood the next night). The pool is very nice and very warm!! There is a made to order omelet breakfast with sausage, bacon, potatoes, cereal, anything you could possibly want. From 5:30-7:30 there is a manager's reception with free snacks and cocktails (tip not included). The parking was a nightmare due to the convention but we found a parking lot 2 blocks down that was $8/day. There are good restaurants in the area. We attempted to eat at Trolley's inside the hotel but it was too busy and the wait for food was over an hour so we decided to have pizza delivered. The sky bridge to the convention center was very nice. Next time I would request a room on the lower floor if a convention is going on as getting an elevator up to the top floors was nearly impossible, it was always at least a 15 minute wait to go down. The bed was very comfortable, we slept very well. I will stay here again in the future.

Room Tip: Top floors are not good during convention dates, elevator wait times are greater.

Planning to visit Tampa downtown convention center for a few days? This is the perfect hotel conveniently connected to it! The this high rise hotel has an amazing view - going up and down inside the elevator where you can see is thrilling and exciting to our son. The room is nice decent sized bedroom and living room for two adults. The breakfast buffet was good value, it was very busy around 9am. Try to go early as you can. Manager's reception was also great amenity - some chips and complimentary selected cocktails. $24 valet parking nightly seems high.

Room Tip: Away from the elevator, the higher the better.

I booked this hotel for my two teenagers and me after flying into Tampa for a cruise the next day. A shuttle company picked us up at the hotel ($10 - 15 for all three of us; they come by every 30 minutes or so) and drove the very short trip to the pier for boarding the ship. It was very easy. We loved the location. We walked to a great restaurant on the water for dinner (Jackson's Bistro? Could see the name/lights from the hotel) and this part of downtown Tampa is really beautiful at night. Great pictures of the skyline from our hotel window. The room itself was very clean and spacious, having an adjoining living room area with an additional t.v. Also has a Starbucks which was great for snacks/hot chocolate later.

Room Tip: Asked for a quiet room; we were put on the 15th floor. Extremely quiet hotel.

My husband and I stayed here before a Christmas cruise for the second time. The hotel staff was helpful, the lobby and rooms very pleasing, and the location to the cruise terminal is enjoyable. The breakfast buffet has good variety and very tasty. The afternoon snacks are chips and salsa and a nice bonus. Walking to the cruise terminal is easy and only takes 10 minutes. Would stay again!

Room Tip: Rooms on the side have a nicer view.

Stayed at Embassy Suites pre-cuise January 4th and 5th. The Hotel is very close to the cruise pier. We even walked (15 minutes) to the pier in the morning of our cruise to see if the ship had arrived (it was very foggy that morning). The hotel has a nice lobby with a Starbucks and small convenience store (did not use either). There is a nice sitting area, a restaurant and an area for the nightly cocktail reception and breakfast area. The front desk staff and all the staff in this hotel go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. There is only valet parking at an additional cost of $22 per night - we did not use since we flew to Tampa and had a taxi take us to the hotel. Our suite was clean, comfortable and spacious. We were on the 16th floor in a corner suite so it was very quite. Heard no street noise or any noise for that matter. We had dinner the first night at the hotel restaurant after spending an hour at the cocktail reception. The restaurant had a limited menu but my husband and I both enjoyed the hamburgers we ordered. The breakfast buffet is the best we have ever had at a hotel buffet. Pre-made scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausage and bacon. Breads, muffins, fruit, yogurt, cereals, and a station for made to order eggs and omelets. There is a Publix and Walgreens within walking distance (about a half mile) if you need anything for your cruise. There is also Channelside within walking distance for Restaurants and shopping. We spent a few hours visiting the Aquarium. Spent some time at the pool, while small it was warm and good for lap swimming. Enjoyed jogging along Bayshore drive where there were many joggers, walkers and bikers. I would stay here again if I cruise from Tampa in the future.

Room Tip: corner room on higher floor

We're locals and decided to enjoy the Tampa downtown nightlife for a a weekend. The Embassy Suites downtown was a great location next to the convention center, the trolley stop, harbor island, the St. Pete Times forum, downtown building and channel side. The room was great - very high up which we loved, but is not for everyone. If you have a fear of heights ask for a lower floor room in this hotel because it has a clear glass railing around all floor walkways surrounding an open atrium over 15 stories high. The elevators are glass walled as well. The room was a corner with 2 rooms and pretty quiet. The pool is small but has a nice deck with a walkway to the convention center. Breakfast was good as usual, but the seating a little crowded. Three is a lobby bar and a themed restaurant "Trolley Station." The actual trolley stop is right in front of the hotel. Be sure to take the trolley to Chanelside, restaurants/bars in Ybor City or through downtown. You can walk to Jackson's on Harbor Island and many downtown spots. Be sure to take the river walk along the Hillsborough River at night - it is very pretty and all of the bridges are lit up. With a little maneuvering you can take it down to Curtis Hixon park - if you are lucky enough to hit it on a concert or event night it will add to the fun! All parking is valet.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the water unless you like looking at downtown and parking garages.

This property is across the street from the convention center and 2.5 blocks from the CAMLS Center. Reasonably priced, good breakfast, and if you are Hilton Honors you can take your breakfast into the restaurant for a little more space and quiet.

This is a cab ride away from the entertainment district, but there are a couple of restaurants in the immediate area and more within walking distance. You can pick up the trolley that will take you the entertainment area for about $2.

The suite was nice and exactly what you'd expect from an Embassy. Sitting area with couch, mini fridge and tv and then a separate bedroom with tv and plenty of closet and drawer space. Staff was friendly and by the nature of Tampa itself, it's close to the airport and there are things to do in the area.

Room Tip: I liked the room I had facing Ybor City and being on a higher floor, especially because the atrium c...
