“Very good for an Embassy Suites”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012 via mobile

I stayed here for two nights on a business trip after a terrible stay at the Embassy Suites USF Busch Gardens on my last trip. I've finally found my Tampa hotel! Rooms were fairly modern and clean. Service at front desk was ok and complimentary breakfast was good for an Embassy Suites. Everything on the buffet was iced down which always concerns me at buffets. I docked the hotel a star for their TERRIBLE $15 per night wifi. I seriously spent hours connecting and being disconnected. I told the man at the front desk about my problems and he did not seem too concerned. I'll be back but hope the wifi is fixed by then!

I’m so glad we can be your number one hotel choice in the Tampa area. I apologize that internet access and cost were of concern during your time with us. We do offer a 1.800 number specifically dedicated to assisting our guests and I have touched base with both our provider and the customer service line to ensure that they are aware of the opportunity and making upgrades to the system to ensure this is not a problem for anyone else. I’ve brought your comments about the cost to our team for review. Thank you for letting me know and apologize for the lack of concern our front desk portrayed. I appreciate your comments and don’t anticipate any connectivity problems happening again but ask that you let us know if they do, during your next visit.

From teh minute we got there the service was outstanding. The desk, the bellman, waitresses were all terriffic. The Cuban sandwich was great. You "could" walk to the pier but it would be a bit of a walk. With luggage and all, the shuttle is easier and less hassle. The

Loved most everything about this hotel! Very clean. Spacious, comfortable suites with more than enought room for 3! Loved the manager's reception with the free drinks and the free breakfast with alot to choose from. This hotel was centrally located to everything in downtown Tampa. The trolley stop is just out the front door. We took it to Ybor City and had a great time. Staff was very nice. Pool area was very clean. Only negative thing I could say is that I wish they did not allow smoking around the pool area.

Room Tip: Choose a top floor room to avoid noise from the lobby!

Bottom line upfront - if your travel schedule takes you to Tampa, the Embassy Suites - Downtown is a MUST STAY! It's location is next to the Hockey Facility, only a short walk from the Cruise Ship Port and the must-visit Tampa Aquarium and the City Trolly stops in front of the hotel. Every hotel room is a large, two-room suite, which is well fitted with all of the comfort business and pleasure travelers look for. And, if you are a government/state employee or active/retired military, request the fabulous government rate. The daily breakfast buffet is FREE and FABULOUS, and the evening Manager's Happy Hour is VERY NICE with FREE beer, wine and many mixed drinks!

Room Tip: ALL rooms are great, but the higher floor rooms provide fabulous views of the City of Tampa.

I attended a conference held in the Tampa convention center and our group stayed at the Embassy Suites Hotel. Valet was very nice and prompt. The rooms were beautiful and so clean! We had a room with a sitting area with the tv and a table, then a small hallway with the restroom and small sink, fridge, and microwave, then the bedroom was a separate room. It was super nice that we didn't have to watch tv or visit with the bed under our arms. Very clean and the bed with many pillows was super comfortable! And, boy did the A/C work! The complimentary breakfast was more than expected! Made to order omlettes were my favorite - other hot items such as sausage, bacon, pancakes were decent. The hotel had a walkway over to the convention center which was perfect - we didn't have to worry about crossing the street and trolley tracks. The location was perfect - easy walk to restaurants, down to the waters edge and to a tiki bar. The staff was friendly, and very helpful when needed. The only negative was the wireless access wasn't complimentary - there was a daily charge. I would definitely stay at the Embassy again! Thank you!

My wife was attending a convention in downtown and we had a choice of the Embassy Suites, Marriott, Sheraton or Weston. We chose the Embassy based on reviews in the Trip Advisor and were very glad we stayed there. The hotel is relatively new and directly across from the Convention Center. There is even a sky bridge so you don't get wet if it rains. It is also right across from the Trolley which travels to Ybor, a Latin quarter area with some nice bars and restaurants. The downtown arena is also directly across from the hotel. We had a nice room on the 19th floor facing the cruise port. The rooms were pretty typical Embassy floor plan, but bright and well appointed with a nice dressing vanity in the bedroom area. The rooms were spotless and well cared for...it is always a pleasure to have a clean refrigerator and microwave. The breakfast in the morning was excellent with a nice buffet of eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, oatmeal or grits, and fruit. The chef who did the made to order omelets or breakfasts was wonderful. The hostess encouraged us to come back if we pleased which was a first for us after staying at other Embassy's. The guest services staff was also very attentive to our needs. The complimentary USA Today as well as the Wall Street Journal was a nice touch each day.

A special thank you to Kylie Briody for all the great advice on what to do in Tampa during our stay. Columbia was a beautiful old restaurant in Ybor that should be visited. If you like steak Bern's is a must a few miles away from the hotel. It is like going in to an old Florida mansion. The steaks are outstanding, but what was nice is that unlike most ala carte steakhouses, the excellent French onion soup, house salad, starch and vegetable are all included. The prices may be a bit high, but when you factor in the quality and all of the amenities, it was worth it. Take a tour of the kitchen and wine cellar after your dinner! It is suggested. And if you like wine, there are numerous bargains of newer and older library wines listed in a hard cover book. Desert on the second floor is a very interesting experience also, however, pricey.

All in all a great stay in Tampa. Once again thank you Embassy.

I have stayed at Embassy Suites before and have never had a bad experience. This hotel in Tampa held up to that standard. The room was reasonably priced. The bed was extremely comfortable. The room had a great view of the Canal/Bay. The bathroom and wet bar was nice. The free breakfast was okay, what I would expect for a free breakfast. They had a great selection of food. There's a starbucks in the lobby which is perfect for me. The meeting rooms were freezing, but this is irrelevant if you're not attending a conference. The food served for the conference was great! There is free internet if you are Hilton Honors or have AT&T. There is also a managers reception from 5:30-7:30 with free drinks!

There are some restaurants close by and always cabs lined up to take you wherever you'd like. This is a good place for business or families. I didn't use the pool. It looked great, just small. Overall, this a safe bet if you need a comfortable place to stay in Downtown Tampa.
