“NEW & GETTING BETTER!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2014

The Epicurean was so long in being built and so over hyped in its opening that the timing and followup on details was inconsistent during the early days. Attention to detail is what this hotel and the shops and restaurants should be about and they are getting better. Elevage, the restaurant inside the hotel has the best chef in town and still one of the weirdest menus, BUT, the food is very good. What I would hope for is that people would not have to walk across the street to Bern's Steak House, when the potential for the best food in town is right there in house. The activities around the hotel are worth the time to check out the schedule before arriving to fit your time at the Epicurean around the featured events being staged in the theater, wine shop, and restaurant. You are so close to Hyde Park and Bayshore venues that you can also plan many other things to do in Tampa, so come and enjoy! We live here and drive thru many hours of traffic from Wesley Chapel to take advantage of this great facility.

It is so great to hear that you travel so far just to enjoy our hotel! I am so pleased that you visited so early on and have been returning since! It’s locals like you who make the Epicurean what it is. Make sure you check out our Sunday pool parties starting June 22nd!

We met friends from Bradenton here for a foodie weekend. The check-in was unique in that young ladies with iPads meet the car, check you in, and take you to your room. Everyone employed by the hotel is super nice! The hotel housekeeping staff needs some work. We went two days without our room being made up! But the classes they offered were fun and I learned a lot about wine in the wine tasting class! The restaurant serves unique food as well, which was really delish! With a few additions and changes, this hotel could be a winner.

Room Tip: None of the rooms we saw had great views. The area itself is being gentrified.

Upon pulling into the entrance, the valets were "hurried' but hustling and nice. We were greeted at the car to check-in via smart tablet and directly escorted to the room. Skipped the front desk routine which was very nice. The property is brand new, nice design, uncluttered , fresh and modern. The room was very nice, 2nd floor has a patio outside your room. You do look at a garage structure so not a warm welcoming view. The room was full of first class furnishings, great shower but no tub. Roomy for a standard king room, nice TV, Keurig style coffee maker. Location in South Tampa is adjacent to many good restaurants including Bern's directly across the street. I will stay there again. I used hotels.com and had a rate of $180. Hope this is helpful .

Room Tip: Second floor has chairs and couches outside your room...not a private patio but nice. I would ask fo...

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay! I always enjoy hearing the feedback from our guests! Our approach to the check-in process is a bit unconventional but we do not wish to be your “standard” hotel. It’s fantastic to hear that you will be staying with us again. I hope during your return visit you take the time to enjoy one of South Tampa’s great restaurants, Élevage. Don’t be a stranger!

We had a delightful three night visit in this extraordinary property. Room was so comfortable and EVERY staff member was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was tasty and wonderful. Room service delicious and delivered in a timely manner. Took two classes in the Epicurean Theater and they were fun and educational- not to mention the hardworking staff that delivered excellent food to taste what was cooked and also to enhance the wine tasting. We'll come again!!

It is so wonderful to hear you were able to attend not one but TWO classes in the Epicurean Theatre! We are thrilled to be able to bring culinary education to the Tampa area. Our staff are a true treasure and I greatly appreciate you taking the time to recognize them. We hope you come back soon. We will have classes in the Epicurean Theatre year-round!

Had a wonderful little romantic jaunt. It is in a happen' area. Very service oriented. The roof top bar, the Edge, is an event in itself. Anthony, the bar supervisor is completely educated in fine beverages and can give you a complete delightful education about the spirits, herbs, botanicals and flavor blendings, while letting you leave with your wits still about you. The beverages are not your usual "top shelf" brands. The restaurant has many unusual and gastronomical offerings.

Room Tip: don't get "balcony" The privacy is limited there.

Nice hotel,on a wine theme, with decent rooms that might need a little more refinement on the way. Roof top bar is pleasant, but a little disadorned and...no sunset view.... as it is obstructed by some walls. Excellent breakfast. Right in front of Bern's Steak house.

We love it when our guest dine at Bern’s Steakhouse and cap the night off up at EDGE! We have some big things coming to our rooftop bar soon! I would recommend you try our restaurant Élevage for dinner the next time you stay!

As a person who love, love, loves food and wine, this hotel had it all!!! From the scrumpdeliocious food and wine, to the attention to every single detail in the decor, from the check-in desk with filled wine racks and wine crate back drop & ceiling, to the Epicurean Theatre that had the biggest fork & knife decoration I have ever seen + meat tenderizer door handle, to every piece of artwork with a food and wine theme, to the room #'s with forks, knives, grapes, salt & pepper shakers, ... Walls with fresh lettuces and herbs used fresh for mouthwatering meals. A ridiculously delicious bakery. A spa that has an entire large wall covered in wine corks + another fresh herb garden they use in treatments! Aaannnddd a Bern's wine store with an amazing selection to choose from. And if they were not enough goodness, the service was off the charts! Check-in is at your vehicle with an iPad and that same person walks you to your room and tells you all about the hotel. They train for stellar customer service and it reflective throughout the hotel. Eric, Melissa, Lindsey, & Steve were Gggrrreeeaaattt & super-duper kudos to the best General Manager I have ever met! Tom genuinely cares about guests' experiences and it shows.

The rooms are great, new, super comfortable and roomy. There is even a cool rooftop bar. Cannot wait to go back!
