“Another Excellent Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

We had another great weekend in Ybor thanks to Hampton Inn. The rooms were cool and comfortable as ever. Very clean and super comfy beds. It baffles me how some can have bad reviews for this location. Yes there is partying going on at night, YOU ARE IN YBOR!! I think if you read between the lines of the good Captain's review you can see that the hotel was not what he had a problem with.

I did have one "complaint". There were four of us that were spending the weekend in Ybor and two more who were coming in Saturday night so I had two rooms booked for the weekend and a third booked for Saturday night. When the Saturday night guests arrived they were given a suite. As the one paying for all 3 rooms I should have gotten the suite...;-)

There were also two weddings happening and most of the wedding partys were staying at the hotel so they were pretty booked. Despite all the extra traffic we did not hear any noise other than our own and the staff was just as attentive and helpful to us as they always are.

Thanks again for another great stay!!

Room Tip: Rooms on the north side offer views of 7th ave and the pool area. We usually stay on the west side...

I spend 100+ nights per year in hotel rooms and have experienced many Hampton Inns.

The Good Stuff:
Ideal Location for all Ybor City activites.
Hotel provided free transportation within 3 miles.
All staff i encountered were friendly, professional and even knowledgeable about the local area.
Public areas/rooms were clean and in functioning order.
Wonderful bed, microwave/fridge, pool, gym free internet and a "better than expected" free breakfast all adds to an already reasonable rate.

Areas That Fell Short:
I experienced 2 rooms; both were dark, dated and worn.
Stains on carpet and easy chair.
Moldy smell in rooms.
However effective; loud air conditioners.
TV remote was broken; needs replaced.
Little or no sound proofing between floors.
Somewhat out of control by the property; "Pure" toiletries suck! Way below todays standard.

In general I like Hampton Inns and would stay at this property again. However I feel Hampton Inn has lagged behind and no longer offers industry leading value when compared to the advances made by newer Courtyards, Fairfield Inns, Holiday Express and Hyatt Place.

We stayed here in May on a cruise park, and stay package. The inn is in a nice location on the edge of the Ybor City area. The cable car stop is very closeby or one can walk to the area attractions. The hotel was very clean, the pool was very nice and the morning breakfast was also quite extensive in it's selections. The front desk staff was very helpful too and there is a free shuttle service. It's a nice stay and a bargain too.

The stay was comfortable and the hotel seemed to be nice enough. I was a little baffled by the amount of traffic the hotel had for a weekend night and the amount of trash and debris that a group that stayed there was able to leave about the hotel. Each trash can was overflowing during the morning hours. I can't say that the hotel was to blame, but they might have staffed better to accommodate that kind of traffic for the night prior. That aside, it was a pleasant stay and the service was attentive and courteous.

Room Tip: There are no views to this hotel it seems, but you want a room away from the elevators, it seems the...

The hotel itself is fine, beautiful and reasonably priced. It's the location and it's access that leaves a lot to be desired. The "entrance" to the lobby is inside the second floor of the attached parking garage, so if you're unable to find a space in the garage and park on the street you're left a little bemused as to how to get inside. Parking garage space is limited and costs $8 per day/night. As we checked in quite late at night, we drove up and around the entire garage looking for a space to no avail. Somehow, we stumbled upon a couple of street spaces marked reserved for the hotel (also $8). After parking we walked back to the hotel building only to be uncertain how to get to the lobby. As it turns out you must walk into the garage and turn left to an elevator in the corner, that takes you up to the 1st floor where the front desk is. Check in was smooth, beds were comfy, rooms are clean and breakfast is the normal Hampton Inn expanded continental. Can't say if I'd stay there again due to the parking situation but it's a Hampton Inn, so once inside you know you can expect quality.

The best greek food with in walking distance and great night life. The hotel is kid friendly but the area isnt. Its a party town so looks dead during the day but the streets are packed at night. Most fun Ive ever had. Didnt have to worry about driving and really felt safe. We stayed for a Rays game and that was about 35 minutes away. We will be going back to the hampton in ybor!

The hotel itself is vet nice at the edge of Ybor city. Good for business or adult travel. I would not call this a kid friendly section of town. Very close to convention center which is great.
