“Decent for short stay with friends.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013 via mobile

Hotel is renovating and it needs it. Apartments are big enough to sleep and have a sitting area but transportation is an issue. They say complimentary shuttle service available and it is and did work out well for how we used it. Was a little shady as the weekend wore on. This is not the ritz but once the renovations are complete and if the shuttle ventures a little further even at a fee this could be a great place to stay for a couple of days.

This is the second year that my siblings and I have spent our "family" vacation at the Mainsail Suites in Tampa. Not only is this place conveniently located and close to many restaurants, shopping, activities, their staff is second to none! I was there for 2 weeks, and during that time, I never encountered a single employee that was less than completely customer-driven. They were cheerful and always ready to assist you in whatever way. I wish I had written down all their names, but one that I do remember is Titus at the main desk. No matter what I needed (eg, directions, postage, special accommodations, shuttle service, etc), he was right on top of it. I am looking forward to a return visit next year :-)

Booked hotel through Hotwire, and got a great rate. Hotwire described hotel as a one bedroom suite, so with 3 adults going I booked two rooms to ensure we all had a bed, and the room was cheap enough to do so. I should have called hotel before booking 2nd room because our one bedroom suite had 2 bedrooms and 4 beds in it - as well as 3 tv's, plenty of room for everyone. The 2nd suite booked had 2 bedrooms as well, with 3 beds. We ended up with 7 beds in 2 rooms. Great value for the money!! I just wished the accuracy of the hotel was a bit better so I could have saved on the 2nd room. With that said, the furniture in the rooms is of just average quailty. The beds are a bit dated, sloped downward and were worn a bit and the pillows very flat! Old style bed covers and unfortunately it was very cold when we were there. The beds only come with a sheet and the old comforter, which, is kinda gross knowing that they likely don't get washed in between guests. There were 2 bathrooms, the floors were dated and peeling but although the room was dated, it was most importantly clean. A fridge and stove and dining area in each unit. The grounds were well kept and the pool was nice, although not heated enough to swim in on that cold day. There are two ponds filled with turtles that love bread to snack on! the units are 3 levels up with no elevators, so if you have seniors or those whom aren't able to climb stairs this could be a problem. The area that the hotel is in is extremely busy with traffic and you will have to drive any where in order to get food, groceries or shopping, but it is right next to the highways and easy access to most needs. I would stay here only for airport transfer as this would not be a hotel i utilized for my full vacation due to the busy area, and the fact that you begin to hear the airport noise at approx 0500. Great place to stay for an overnight before a trip out or if you are looking for a large room on a budget and able to get a great price - 70 a night through a 3rd party hotel seller. the front staff were very nice. We arrived at 330pm to check in and one room was ready, but we did have to wait an additonal half hour before the 2nd room was ready for check in.

This place was awesome and incredibly accommodating.

After literally being KICKED OUT of the Westin Tampa Bay (long story, awful hotel), we came here. Great value for our money, suuuuper friendly staff. Huge rooms with 4 beds, cheap, great pool, close to all kinds of stuff, good shuttle service, and great times.

Thanks guys, you rock.

My husband and I stayed at Mainsail when we went to Tampa for laser surgery at the Laser Spine Institute. We had a very nice one bedroom suite that was spacious and comfortable. The hotel staff was always friendly, and attentive, and any requests were handled promptly. The restaurant on site was a short walk from our room and quite good with an assorted menu, with friendly service that always remembered us, and what we liked. The fitness center is top of the line with a nice outdoor pool as well. Another nice amenity was the guest laundry facility for those with extended stays.
.
The hotel is located just minutes from the airport and the Laser Spine Institute with a dedicated, free mini-bus shuttle for both. This service was a welcomed amenity, not only did they offer rides to and from the airport and LSI; they also were available for transport to local restaurants and malls within a five mile radius. I can’t say enough about the drivers especially Angel and Ron who were always on time and always courteous and helpful. They went out of their way to make our visit comfortable.

On the negative side, Wi-Fi is $10 per day and I will never understand why hotels simply can't include this in their rates.

All in All, I give this hotel 5 stars for hospitality, accommodating requests, and value. We’d definitely stay there again!

We booked the hotel over 6 months in advance. I had done my research and requested a 3rd floor so noise from above wouldnt be an issue. I requested the building closest to the pool - Building 100 and was told on two different occasions that shy of a natural disaster we would get our request.

Upon arriving we were put in a completely different building over looking the parking lot. Definately not what we requested. When talking with the front desk they pretty much said, unless you want to move farther from the pool & restaurant that was all they could give us. So booking way in advance and calling to confirm original booking 1 month in advance did absolutely nothing for getting us the room we were told we would get. There was no natural disaster.

The room was fine. Kitchen was clean and large and had just enough of everything for 4 people. Livingroom and bedrooms were clean. Washrooms were very clean. Lots of towels.

Headed to the restaurant to check it out and we were really glad we did. Everyone was so friendly and very helpful. Food was A1. We ate all meals there. Breakfast buffet was also very good. Restaurant staff from waitress (i think her name was Linda) to Michelle and the Chef. Chef came out and spoke to one of our travellers about food allergies and was very reassuring that she would be looked after and was.

Pool was perfect and hot tub was great too.

For the value, no other place can top this. Would definately go back and spend even longer. Great location (noise of planes during the day but you got used to it quickly).

Would very much recommend it even though we didnt get what we asked.

Room Tip: Try to get a 3rd floor room, no noise from above. Try to get a front facing room. Air conditioners...

Have stayed here 3 times. It is a decent property for corporate meetings ect. Location is good, close to airport and veterans expressway. But it is a bit dated. Rooms are in need of a renovation, old tv's and bathroom fixtures. They are apartment suites which are very nice size. I know they are in the midst of a renovation which is desperately needed. Property is large and spread out which is good and bad

Room Tip: Ask for a renovated room
