This is one of my favorite spots in Tampa for Italian cuisine. Located in an old bank building in historic Ybor City, the ambience is pleasingly warm and attractive...and the decor makes me feel like I'm in Florence again. Service is always efficient, friendly and courteous, and meals are leisurely paced to allow for maximum enjoyment of the wonderful cuisine and surroundings. The menu offers an extensive selection of appetizers, creative salads, pizzas, pasta dishes and entrees. Every meal begins with some of Bernini's wonderful Italian bread with herbed olive oil for dipping. The wood-fire oven pizzas are perfect, with fresh toppings and a perfect thin and crispy crust. I especially adore the Pistachio Crusted Grouper entree, which is one of the best grouper dishes I have had ANYWHERE in Florida, as well as the Eggplant Bonnano appetizer (crispy fried eggplant layered with ricotta cheese, prosciutto, fresh mozzarella and basil, finished with poblano chili pesto & marinara). To. die. for. Soups of the day are invariably creative and delicious (with selections such as creamy salmon dill bisque and three-onion w/ steak bits), and there is a nice, reasonably-priced wine list with many offered by the glass. Prices are relatively moderate considering the quality of the food and portion sizes. I just can't say enough good things about this place...every dining experience I've had there has been a 10. Highly recommended for top-notch Italian cuisine in an adult-oriented environment.
