We had a very pleasant stay at the Renaissance in August. We were traveling with our two kids and chose this hotel for Marriott point reasons. One of the draws was my club access so I was a little disappointed with its closure over the weekend but the hotel made up for it with breakfast credits. Plus, the housekeeping staff was very generous with the water bottles since we could not access the club for some.
The pool is great for a hotel pool. Very clean and it had the fun waterfall feature. My kids enjoyed it for hours. The fitness center is beyond the usual hotel workout room. Great equipment and well maintained.
The kids also loved the oversized chess and tic tac toe sets in the lobby - a nice touch and no one seemed to mind the kids hanging out there although it did seem to be a bit more of an adult residence when we were there.
The food in the restaurant was good but it was great to have all the eateries attached to the mall so accessible (although my waistline could have done without the easy access to the Cheesecake Factory :-) ). Most impressive was how quite the hotel was considering its proximity to the mall and its many nightclubs and the airport. We never heard a lick of outdoor noise.
The only downside was the airconditioning. We just couldn't seem to get it to cool the room enough to counter the humidity. We are drylanders so do not do well in humidity but we were cranking it down to 60 degrees to no effect.
But, all in all, a great stay and we would come again if ever in the area.
