“Add to you movie experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Very few movie theaters have character anymore but this 100 year old movie theater actually does. If you want a different experience with a bit of history added to it, then you must go here. If you see a "spooky" or scary movie here, this venue will actually enhance the experience.

“Step Back in the Roaring 20's”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

You won't believe this theatre -- built in the days when people escaped the heat and thrilled to each new adventure at the movies. With an authentic organ that is still used before all evening shows that played before there were "talkies", this beautiful theatre has stars that light up in the ceiling, 20's decoration still untouched today and a new sound system that enables you to hear as well as see the oldies but goodies the theatre shows. A real gem. The only problem is the 1920's seats which are small and uncomfortable compared to seats in modern theaters. Don't let that stop you though......well worth a visit.

“If you like the Arts, this is the place.”

Excellent variety of entertainment. I have been here to see Stomp and the Blue Men group and it is a nice venue.

“My butt hurts!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

Please understand that I fully support the Tampa Theatre. Now that they have added digital cinema to their projection capabilities, it is more attractive to visit them. It's just the seats - once you sit in them for 120 to 140 minutes, they are painful. I recognize that this is probably due to these being the original seats from when the Theatre was built, i.e., 1926.

My only complaint. They serve fresh popped popcorn at a reasonable price, along with beverages, including beer and wine. Parking is free after 6pm and all day on Sunday.

“Great Tour!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013

I highly recommend doing the Tampa Theater tour. It is only $5 and the tour lasts for 90 minutes. You hear about the incredible history of the theater in addition to the organist playing a little melody for you as well.

The staff is very friendly, I have not been to see a movie there but I plan to go very soon.

Beautiful place!
