“Go for the charm ... and convenience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2014

Well, well. I've been to the Don Vicente a number of times, for an event or a few drinks, and stayed here twice now over the past 3 years. The location is very convenient to walk all of ybor city, like 20 city blocks worth of walking. Awesome restaurants, museums, flower and gift shops, and many. many clubs for dancing...anything you can desire, it's in Ybor.

As for the hotel... well, it's very old, so it has nice high ceilings, heavy covered window dressing (good to block the light and never ending street noises. Comfortable beds, spacious rooms ... think about how the planning was a hundred years ago and there you have it. And as with antiques, you're also dealing with older codes and plumbing, electrical, etc.

If you're really after newer, but like antiques, stay elsewhere for modern conveniences, amenities and better soundproofing, and visit this beautiful historic site for drinks. They'll even show you a room or two if they are available! The people working here wear many hats, so you may wait a bit for service and answers, but they are the nicest people as well.

Some events are held here, on the first floor or in the BASEMENT! (yes, even in florida, there is an occasional basement), and the space is nice. (again older plumbing the the restrooms, so don;t go looking for modern amenities). I rate this as very good (4 stars). It could be better by having more employees, for better/quicker service, but this is a boutique hotel, so I understand the small staff. Others may rate this as average (3 Stars). I rarely over rate (extra stars) any of my reviews, except I do give small mom/pop type of businesses the edge, So while this is a solid 3 1/2 star hotel, i gave it the extra 1/2 star because it's a boutique hotel with hard working people. Enjoy!

I actually had some trouble finding the hotel driving to it because it didn’t look like a hotel at all and it was located as the only building on a huge parking lot in the middle of the Ybor area. Before entering I did not know anything about the Cuban area of Ybor and the history of the building but it all came to live as soon as I entered the amazing hotel.

The lounge areas and the room I stayed in had Persian rugs, antiques and chandeliers. The hotel is not that large, because it has only 16 rooms. I entered across the awesome ground floor and was completely taken by the mind-blowing staircase located next to the reception that was located in the corner and the wonderful wooden floor. There was a sweet woman sitting behind the counter and she showed a huge smile when I neared the counter with a matching smile. She told me the story of the house and told me that I was getting the best room of the hotel, which was located just above the reception.

I was one big smile, when I entered my room some minutes later. The first thing I saw was the humongous 4-pillar king size bed that was so tall that I had to do a Fosbury Flop to enter. The room just went on and on and I had a huge living room as well full of antiques and a huge blue Persian rug. I had 7 double glass doors with heavy blue curtains that went well with the white walls. It was truly an amazing hotel and I later found out that it was located perfectly if you want to take advantages of the frisk and intense nightlife of Ybor.

Our son and brand new daughter-in-law wisely chose this property as their 'one stop' 'all inclusive' wedding spot. The building itself is elegant and classy, decorated with some of the most beautiful chandeliers and lighting fixtures I have ever seen. The individual rooms were large, most with balconies that you entered by double French doors from your room. They had large, well lit bathrooms, comfortable beds, linens and pillows. The entire staff went out of their way to accommodate everyone, responding to all of our needs and wishes. We were luck enough to chat with the owner on several occasions and he was so willing to share his experiences and knowledge of the restoration of the hotel. BUT the overall "WOW" factor of this hotel is the Grand Staircase, highlighted by a breathtaking chandelier that fills the landing in front of a huge golden framed mirror! We used it as a backdrop for wedding pictures that make your heart stop.Yes, we really loved this place, can you tell?

Room Tip: reserve the whole hotel for wedding parties.... it makes you feel like you own a castle

Just stayed there one night as all of the "name" hotels in Tampa were completely booked up.
Took a risk and stayed here - great people at front desk and throughout hotel - room was beautiful - the neighborhood was great - so much better than staying in downtown Tampa.

We stopped at this beautiful inn during a tour of Ybor City. This old inn is beautifully maintained and the best kept secret in Tampa. If you enjoy historical buildings, this inn would be a delightful place to stay. It is beautifully kept with period furnishings which would be a real treat - it is absolutely magnificent. The inn only has 16 rooms and has beautiful space for private functions such as weddings and receptions. The hotel would be perfect to reserve the whole building for a wedding and to house your out of town guests.

If you require all modern conveniences don't stay here - you won't appreciate this magnificence of this beautiful building.

We are part of a team of paranormal investigators called Gateway Paranormal in Nova Scotia. Three of us - me, spouse and his 14 year old son travelled to Orlando for March break and decided to do a ghost hunt while we were there. Having seen this Inn on The Dead Files, we booked the spooky room 305. We conducted our investigation but did not find anything that night. The room was lovely and the service was great. The hotel is close to everything and YBor is a wonderful place to visit. We would go again!

We stayed at the inn for a one night trip to Ybor City. The inn is very quaint and very comfortable but the best part was the welcoming staff and owners. We had the great fortune of having a complete history of the inn from the owner Jack who loves the place and truly lives the philosophy of the guests come first. We had dinner at the Columbia restaurant which completed a wonder night. The bed was very comfortable and the bath was lovely. Well appointed. The district is an entertainment area which resulted in a noisy evening and overnight on the street. I would recommend the air conditioner instead of open windows for sleeping.
