Really, if you want serious bbq, you have to avoid the chains. If you insist, however, on upscale surroundings, cocktail lounge ambience, hostesses that provide electronic pagers when your table is ready, then this might be your kind of place.
I may be a que junkie that believes that the best places are old falling-down shacks in poor neighborhoods that employ peoople of questionable culture but there's no denying that Smokey Bones can get their meats tender and infuse a strong smoky flavor. Everything's good here even though you feel more like you're in an urban sportsbar than a rural smookehouse.
I'll cop to my prejudice: I'm just one of those strange people that will take a 100-mile detour off the Interstate because I heard talk of a good ol' boy there that knows something aboout smoke. There are many others that are quite happy to eat at Sonny's. But if you have to have corporate chain-style bbq, this ain't bad.
