“A jewel in the crown”

Didn't know about this museum until reading an article in the newspaper. This is a definite place to bring the kids. Lots of history about where we live.

“Pleasant and informative surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2012

When our son had to go there for a history project, our whole family went and loved it. We have even been back again to visit. There are interactive places for young children and as much information about our city as anyone of any age could want. The view from the Columbia Cafe is nice for sitting to enjoy a sandwich and soup or coffee or drinks.

“Unexpected delight”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2012

Well I was reluctant to go despite liking museums the items listed did not seem to appeal to my interests. Luckily, upon arrival and browsing through the various exhibits it was quite fun and interesting. Lots of great Floridian history and illustrations and concepts of how Tampa natives were impacted and effected the United States as a whole. At the time they had the top floor transformed into a special movie-costume exhibit too which was rather exciting seeing some of the cool outfits (Darth Vader!) on display. The cigar and agricultural exhibits were also rather fun to experience.

“Expensive - Not a lot to see”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2012

The museum building is nice and it looks like a good exhibit - but once you start going through it you realize there is very little in the way of meaningful content. A lot of random items, some of which connect to Tampa. For the $12 admission fee there is barely 45 minutes worth of material to explore.
