“good hike, saw huge alligator!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2014

We went to the Hillsborough River Park. We were thinking of canoeing, but decided to hike instead. The paths are really well-marked, so you don't really need much of a map. The 3.2 loop was pretty muddy, and we saw a lot of lizards. We didn't expect too much, but were treated to seeing a huge (10 foot?) alligator in the river, right by where they were putting canoes in, and people were cooking out. It was amazing.

“Great place for walking!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2014

This is a great place to walk and is connected for many miles. There is a very nice park by the Tampa Museum of Art and the Photographic Museum is close by. This is well kept and has a dog park.

“NICE CANOE RIDE down the river”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2014

We have been to the river on more than one occasion and also like to take out of town guest for a day out to go canoeing. You can go to the outpost and rent the canoes for several different trips. You are provided with a map and instructions. A bus takes you to the drop off and from there the time is yours. You will see all kinds of wild life as well as many alligators (especially if you go in the springtime which is their mating season) However do not bother them and they will not bother you!!! We loved sighting the birds and turtles. We packed a few coolers and took them along and when we got to the stop point at the State Park, we enjoyed our lunch before calling for our pick up. It was a very enjoyable day. Don't forget sunscreen if it is a sunny day because it isn't entirely shady.

“great place to kayak”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2014

Wonderful place to spend a Saturday or Sunday just paddling down the river. Quiet, relaxing, and serene. No cell phones, fax machines, or ipads to bother with. Wish I could do it every weekend. This a great place.

We rented canoes and went on a 3 hour guided trip. Saw lots of wildlife and native trees and plants. Very relaxing.
