“Perfect Hotel for the Business Traveler”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2009

Stayed at the Westin on a recent business trip. Brand new hotel located right near the airport on the waterfront. Great rooms, good service, and a very cool restuarant to boot. It also had a great gym where I was able to squeeze in my morning yoga before heading to catch my flight. I will definitely stay here again the next time I have to be in Tampa.

I have stayed at Westin Hotels in the past and found them awesome, so I was excited because this is a new hotel real close to our home. The lobby and rooms were beautiful and the view of Tampa Bay was awesome. The front desk lady was very snooty and the 3 not-busy valet people were down right rude. We decided to park our own car and I assume since they weren't getting a tip for parking they didn't care how they acted. The walls in the room were so thin we got to listen to the guests talk loudly in both rooms beside us. I would think a nice hotel like this would have better walls than the run of the mill cheap hotel/motels around. Also upon checking out the same snooty girl was super nice to the couple before us, even asking how their stay was. When it was my turn I got nothing, not even a receipt because I had booked on-line??? It's amazing how you can take such a nice place and the people running it can make it ugly.

I agree with the above review that this Westin has excellent views and the staff is friendly.
High speed internet is good-desk is good-bedding is good. Not a resort but a business hotel for overnight stays.
However, I absolutely don't like required valet parking-they have plenty of convenient space-

Great service... typical of a Starwood property. The place was so new that it still had that new car smell. The views were spectacular. The location as it says is somewhat close to the airport, but that wasn't a deterent. The drive to downtown was 5-10 min tops.

The bathroom is good, but it only had a shower and it leaked quite a bit of water on the floor due to the design. Not sure who is really taking Baths at Hotels these days, but if you desire a Bathtub you may want to inquire about that ahead of time.

The restaurant was a little bit pricey and to be honest I wasn't overly impressed with the Filet I got, but the lobster bisque was good.

All in all not a bad little Westin.

We stayed for a Valentines weekend getaway. This is a brand new hotel, opening the Thursday before Super Bowl Sunday. Made our reservation online. Check in was efficent and professional. Requests made online were noted. We are Starwood Preferred Guests. At this hotel they have a separate floor for members of their frequent travel club. Our room faced Tampa Bay with views of the airport and downtown skyline. King bed room was not overly spacious but for two it was adequate. Well decorated and clean. Room had a flat panel TV, mini-bar, desk with plug in panel for electronics, coffee maker with Starbuck Coffee, safe and a clock radio/sound machine/ipod docking station bedside. Very comfortable "Heavenly" bedding for a good nights rest. Small closet and not very much drawer space. Closet contained two robes, ironing board and iron. Bathroom was very spacious with a glass enclosed shower stall and separate tub. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand lotion & soap were all a wonderful scent. The lobby was nicely decorated with some seating but not overly large for groups to gather & meet. One restaurant which is open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner and a separate Starbucks. We had breakfast in the restaurant which was good but a little pricey. They stop serving breakfast at 10:00AM which seems rather early, particularly on the weekend. There is a sizable workout room with a very good selection of equipment and an indoor swimming pool. Our only negative about the hotel is they require you to valet park your vehicle. No self park option. The valet parking is a $16.00 daily charge.
It is not a large all inclusive resort for a family vacation. There are a couple of restaurants across a rather busy highway. You could try walking as there is a traffic signal. Otherwise expect to leave the grounds for other eating choices.
