“Probably one of the best options close to BG”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2007

I think my family has fallen in love with the La Quinta chain. The prices are outstanding (with lots of discounts available), the hotel is clean, the employees are curteous, and the continental breakfast can't be beat. This La Quinta is showing its wear but it is very clean. The waterfall by the pool is a nice, albiet slightly tacky, touch. This hotel faces the BACK of Busch Gardens, so if you plan to walk, you basically have to walk all the way around to get to the front entry. My husband I took one look and said "We'll pay for parking." There are lots of fast food joints withing 5 minutes and the mall is about 2 blocks away. There is a Wingzone on the same street as the hotel: the terriyaki wings are especially YUMMY. We'll be staying here for our future trips to Busch Gardens.

Well, like always I relied heavily on tripadvisor.com to help me choose a cheap, safe, clean hotel for a one night stay after going to Busch Gardens.

Unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to the prior reviews I had been reading on here. I am willing to chalk it up to a bad room, because most of what I saw was OK.

The front desk staff was very pleasant and were very efficient. I asked her for a quiet room since some rooms face the busy roads out front. She said my assigned room was next to an ice machine and offered to switch for me. I took her up on it and it was nice of her.

The room however was not all that great. There was a serious issue with the door not closing properly. Once you forced it shut the dead bolt set and it was ok. Also, it was a little cold that night so i turned on the heat. When I did, the heating unit rattled uncontrolably. Now I didn't call the front desk for maintenance because it was so late so its my own fault it didn't get fixed.

The breakfast in the morning was good though. Coffee, juice, waffles, cereal and biscuits & gravy. I was very impressed actually.

Overall for the price and assuming I got a better room next time, I'd go back here or recommend it to friends.

We stayed overnight at the La Quinta Inn, and found it an ideal base. Room was clean and couldn't fault it for an overnight stay. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Drive or walk to Busch Gardens. Friendly staff, and lovely pool. Closest motel to Busch Gardens we noticed while we were there.

$88 for bed/breakfast in a usual motel style room - more than you would expect to pay in Orlando but maybe all Tampa hotels are more expensive.

Make sure you ask for a room at the end of a corridor so you don't get too disturbed by loud passers by outside. Room was comfortable enough (sink was in the bedroom not in the bathroom). Breakfast was OK with a fresh waffle maker. Free wireless internet and parking.

We checked-out and left the car in the car park, and then walked one (long) block to Busch gardens - at least 15 mins walk (0.6 miles in full sun). Saves the $10 or so though.

I chose this hotel because of it's proximity to Busch Gardens. You can see the park from the lobby but you can't walk to it because the entrance to the park is on the other side of the park. The rooms are a little worn and out dated but they are relatively clean and very spacious. We enjoyed the king size bed and the ceiling fans which made up for the underpowered A/C. We wanted a cheap, nice hotel and that's what we got. Excellent hotel for the price range.

The savings in the rate are NOT worth the aggravation and traumatizing experience you will have here. If you want to stay at a budget hotel, stay at the LQ on Fowler Ave...much nicer environment.
As we took the elevator up to our room, we noticed elevator light panels were on the floor, dirty disgusting floor of elevators. The real trauma started when we entered the room-fan knob broken and the only way to turn off the tv was to unplug it from the wall. At 5am, we woke up in a sauna room. Temp was set at 68 and the display indicated room was 79 degrees. Wanted someone to come fix ac, but no one avaialble til 9am. So, we had no other choice to repack and change rooms. Had to go downstairs to pick up key to new room, only to enter a room that hadn't been cleaned yet. Returned to Front desk and was given a room at the back of the hotel. Wall AC unit sounded like a water fountain. Toilet paper roll was missing. Someone threw ice at our window and our neighbor's window in the middle of the night. We meant to book at the LQ on Fowler, but hotels.com was very misleading. Saying this hotel was near Busch Gardens. Well, so is the
LQ on Faulker ave. Went to this one first, by accident and everything
in that hotel looked so upkept and clean. Family member had booked it
online for us and didn't realize. I've stayed at different LQ inn's and have never been disappointed. Next morning, the GM offered us voucher for 2 free nights stay at any LQ in the country to show his apologies. Will never stay here again, though. It's obvious they don't maintain this hotel and they don't care much about it. This was
one night from hell!

We were pleasantly surprised by the size and quality of our room and it was clean and tidy.

Just one maintenance issue - the telephone had been pulled from the wall and not repaired - but it didn't spoil our stay though.

Had 2 nights there and found the staff were very professional and helpful to all guests.

One thing puzzled us though...... other reviewers talk about the free breakfast, but there was none when we stayed, just coffee???? We asked at reception and told that there was no breakfast as part of the room rate. Is there another hotel similar to this one?
