“stay away from casa loma”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

When we got to the room there were ants crawling all over the counter in the kitchen. We asked for bug spray and we were told that it was locked in a closet that the desk workers didn't have a key to. We were told the manager would be in later that night and he would be able to get the spray. We made several trips to the office to see why the problem had not been resolved. We then went to take a shower and the shower curtain was covered in mold and the walls were covered in hair from the previous people. We finally went out that night and returned to a full parking lot. We were told to park across to street. When we checked in we filled out a paper with our make and model of our car and were told the reason for this was so that we are guaranteed a place in the parking lot as opposed to other people who aren't staying there. We got back to our room and the ants are still crawling across our counter. The next morning we packed our stuff and booked a room at Tip Top Isles (which is a great friendly hotel!). The manager from Casa Loma called us and told us that this is the first that he had heard of any of the promlems. The hotel is dirty and the staff is unrelieable in their ability to solve customer complaints.

Room Tip: In order to find a hotel in a good location at a good price with great service go to Tip Top Isles!

Casa Loma is one of those special gems you don't find so often anymore these days. My lover and I had an absolutely wonderful time here and I imagine any business traveler would find it relaxing. There is an amazing Bossa Nova group that plays from late morning to around 9pm. It really lends to the atmosphere. The landscaping is current and modest with nice splashes of color. Most notable would be the Troilla Fountain replica and the Turtle Garden in the vestibulary addendum section of the East Wing Study. The staff is friendly and courteous, with multiple languages spoken and able to assist with most duties. The room service provides the standard fare with an inconspicuously playful Clam Rouge Antipasto and a wide selection of Napa Valley and Czechoslovakian wines that are served by the box or by the bottle. Our conference room was spacious with comfortable seating and good light. There is a nice projector for laptops and great wifi signal as well (although some areas weren't as great) and local fax service. The local nightlife is fun and offers a wide range of dining options. There are some wonderful miniature golf courses with all manner of fiberglass animals in various whimsical poses. We managed to take in an afternoon gondola ride at the docks for $12 and then hit some of Phil's Jetski Paintball. This is a truly unique experience where you and your friend ride around on jetskis and shoot each other with non-toxic paintballs. Probably a better idea for after the meetings are done. There is a world-class croquet course near the riverfront with beautiful swans and flamingos that constantly fight for food, turning the waters red. There are dog runs for the pet-minded, but I would caution against them as they are not monitored and we were witness to a Papillon being viciously mauled while onlookers merely laughed. We did enjoy the spacious dung bins scattered around the city. If you enjoy a fine cigar, a trip to The Toasted Leaf would be in your interest as it lies a mere three blocks aways and provides massive discounts on our cancerous friend.
All in all a great stay and wonderful place for business conventions. There is plenty to do locally and the staff is helpful and the facilities clean.
