After hearing rave reviews from friends of ours about Chase Suites in Tampa my husband and I decided to book two nights for our weekend getaway. While the customer service over the phone was fantastic (gave me a lower price due to a 3rd party website having the room for cheaper) upon arrival we were less than impressed. No where online or during my phone conversations with the hotel did they mention the ENTIRE facility was under renovations. My husband and I walked into the lobby to check in on a Friday night around 7:30 pm after our flight. Luckily we were second in line because the one person covering the front desk could not handle the 12 people who walked in after us. It shocked my that on a Friday night they had one person working the desk. He was very nice and accommodated everyone as quickly as possible, even upgraded our room to one of the newly renovated buildings.
What he didn't tell us was that "newly renovated" meant still under construction. We arrived at the building to see paint cans. ladders and painters tape strewn around outside. While our room was very nice (Queen Studio) it reeked of new paint which caused us headaches ALL weekend. Aside from that our "balcony" door was taped shut and covered with plastic due to the construction so not only could we not use it but we also had NO natural light due to the plastic. The fireplace would have been nice had they provided a log or Duraflame to guests. The furniture was all brand new and the room looked great but the TV had no channel directory and some channels were blurry, the light in the kitchen buzzed when in use and the maids didn't carry dishwasher soap with them so you could only run one load of dishes. (Unbeknownst to us you needed to contact the front desk for dishwasher soap). The bed was extremely soft, unsupported and very uncomfortable so not only did I have a headache all weekend from paint fumes I had back problems upon leaving as well.
For our little weekend getaway it was nice to have a full kitchen, stay right on the water and be centrally located to everything but for the price I definitely wouldn't stay here again unless I was compensated for this disaster of a room.
if they tell you "newly renovated" tell them NO THANKS!

I apologize that your stay at Chase Suite Hotel Tampa was less than extraordinary. We have a lovely property here and our guests come back year after year. Many are very excited about the changes going on and are looking forward to seeing it when it is finished. Currently we have anywhere from 4 to 6 rooms under renovation at any time and always within one building. Our lobby floor is being replaced and we are painting the exteriors of each of the guest buildings. Again, one at a time. It was unfortunate that you were placed in building 8 as they were finishing paint last week. We do everything we can to let our guests know about the construction although coming onto the property it is evident we are in the process of improvement. I only wish you had let me know while you were here so that I could have relocated you to another building. Construction, renovation and paint will be complete by February 15. I
