“Nice hotel but not close enough to walk to downtown”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2012

This is a pretty typical Courtyard. Nice lobby, pretty good service and clean rooms. I had moved there from the suburbs with the intent of walking around downtown and walking back to the hotel but it is close enough to do that. If you're looking for that, stay at the A-loft or the Hotel Duval. They'll cost a little more though. The Courtyard was dirt cheap for the weekends at $89/night while the A-loft and Duval were in the $130-140 range.

I was just there for a graduate school interview at FSU. After trying and trying to find a hotel close to the college and still close to restaurants/shopping, I decided on this one. I was very, very glad to have stayed here.

They have a hot tub, which seems quite rare, and it was really clean and nice. The sitting area and courtyard was fantastic, and I requested a room with a balcony, and got one facing the pool. The room was very clean, very comfortable, and great. The lobby was also really comfortable, and the check-in station, where you can print your plane tickets, is very helpful and easy to use.

I stayed there three nights, and the staff every night was friendly and very accommodating. They went above-and-beyond to meet and exceed my needs.

I would certainly stay here again. I strongly recommend it!

Room Tip: Request a room with a balcony.

Very clean and spacious rooms, good location close to main arteries but quiet, nice bar, very friendly service, free parking, free Internet. So why not four stars? Actually, I went to bed very happy with my choice of hotel and ready to hand out a "very good" rating. But when I woke up in the morning both my wife and I felt like we had been under a steamroller. The (king) bed was sagging so much, it felt like a hammock. Not sure how much sleep I got. It seemed I spent most of the night trying to get back to my side of the bed just to roll back to the middle again. Okay, I admit, maybe - for some reasons I can't fathom - some people like such soft mattresses, so two stars is perhaps a bit heavy handed but I travel a lot, and this was extreme.

Another thing I didn't like was the quality of the towels. More Super 8 than Marriott.

I've stayed at this hotel a lot over the years. It's always been good, but, with its recent remodel, it's even better.

For doing business at the Capital, which is the only reason I ever go to Tallahassee, this location is hard to beat. It's exactly 1 mile to the Capital. There are lots and lots and lots of restaurants within a 5 minute drive... from all the chains to a few local specialties. And, should you forget something, there are lots of stores -- from Walgreens to Target -- within a 5 minute drive.

Checkin was fast and painless. Staff was knowledgeable and efficient (and even found me a room for an unexpected second night, notwithstanding the hotel being "sold out").

Rooms are nice. Beds and pillows are good. Air conditioning works well. Plenty of shower pressure. Rooms and common areas are always clean. Internet works and is free.

The new restaurant is actually very good. Had a tasty made to order breakfast sandwich. Served up quickly. It's a very nicely laid out bistro right in the middle of the lobby.

This hotel is usually a couple of dollars more than the local competition. But, it is consistently good and dependable, so I always stay here when I'm in town.

Room Tip: It's a very oddly laid out hotel. But the rooms at the farthest end of the property, with balcon...

We stayed here the night before visiting FSU for a tour. From the outside, there is not much to see. The rooms were clean as were the hallways. They will nickel and dime you for anything you need like a toothbrush or paste- bring your own.
They have a "Bar and Restaurant". Bring your own, for happy hour the beers are $4.
There is a Mexican Restaurant a block away. Great food, drinks, and service- go there. The night we were there it was 2 for 1 on drinks all night and $6.99 fajitas. Split them- it's huge.

Room Tip: Ask for a room- first floor facing pool. Much better and you can walk to the pool.

It's a bit tricky to find and 15 minutes off I-10 but for the bargain quality hotel shopper looking at Talahassee, this is a good find. Older hotel in very good condition, large quiet rooms, and new "Bistro" concept for better food and lower price make this a genuine bargain. State Capitol is within sight about 1 mile away and FSU about 3 miles. Chain restaurants close. Would stay again and highly reccomend. Clue: if Marriott says lobby is newly remodeled, it is probably a new Bistro concept. Concept is a homerun from my cheap seats.

I would ust this hotel again. It was very close to the FSU campus and places to eat. The staff was very friendly. The salad I had from the Bistro was awesome (but overpriced) and the girl working there was extremely nice,
