“Fine chain hotel, friendly staff, clean, good breakfast.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 days ago NEW

This is a residence inn. This means it has a little kitchenette that has what you need to stay for a night, or a week. The room was large, with a desk, the kitchenette, a very comfortable bed, couch, nice modern TV, very clean bathroom and plenty of wall sockets. It seems to be quite new. Compared to a standard typical hotel room, this was much better.

The bed had 4 pillows. And, the bed was very comfortable, very much so. There are thin drapes and also a second set of drapes that is light blocking.

Ample parking is available (for a reasonable fee it seems). The breakfast really is extensive with all sorts of choices. There is something for everyone - ranging from cold cereals, bagels, muffins, fruit, hot cereal, waffles, eggs, sausage, etc., etc.. Two kinds of juice are available, there is milk. Pretty you name it and it is there - all self service. The coffee is pretty good too.

A shuttle is available at no charge to get to to and from the airport. I leaves from the Inn one the hour and the trip takes about 20 minutes. There is a computer in the lobby with a printer and you can print out your boarding pass free of charge.

All in all this is a really nice place to stay. For a chain hotel, I think it is quite unusual and pleasant. The staff is very friendly, which is another plus.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the parking lot and not the street - quieter.

Thank you for the detailed review of our hotel, amenities, and services. You are correct; every room in our hotel has a complete kitchen with full size appliances and stocked with cooking, serving and dining ware. Our breakfast is very popular with many guest, served 7 days a week with the wide variety of options you listed plus a few others. The shuttle services the airport, FSU campus and a few other nearby locations like the downtown area, department of education building, the FAMU campus and FSU’s research park. It operates between 8a and 10p daily. Perhaps the next time you’re in for a visit you can join us at one of our evening week night Mix events. Monday – Wednesday we serve up local fresh brew from Proof Brewing Company as well as a variety of Sangria, with light evening snacks or treats. This is in addition to the many dining and entertainment options within walking distance. That is exactly why they say it’s a RESIDENCE, not just a hotel! In any case we were glad to hear you enjoyed your time with our team and we look forward to seeing you very soon.

Welcoming, customer-oriented and service friendly long-term stay hotel. Very helpful in maintaining personal belongings, luggage, and work materials over an 18 month period. Rooms always well maintained and services at your scheduled request. Breakfast & evening reception daily. Meeting rooms & catering are fantastic. Central location provides team members multiple nearby meal & drink options. Only negative is during football season. Party-central intersection near FSU campus/stadium and can be quite noisy at times but it's a minor inconvenience for such a central location.

Valletta,

It was great to hear that you enjoyed your extended stay at our hotel. Our team was very excited to hear that we were able to consistently exceed your expectations. We understand the importance of brining the comforts and convenience of home while you are traveling! You are correct, our location adjacent to the FSU campus and a short walk from the Doak Campbell stadium is perfect for the Noles fans to celebrate during game season! Our neighborhood has become one of the most exciting and dynamic neighborhoods in the Tallahassee area with many dining and entertainment options within walking distance. We hope we may see you on your next visit to the Tallahassee area.

I like this Residence Inn, this is my second stay. The hotel serves wine and beer with the weeknight evening reception. Food seemed a little lame, but breakfast was typical and yummy. Do be careful the "Market" selections don't show price, I got a split of wine .....$17.50, I was a little surprised. I might have still selected the wine, but wish I could have told how much I was paying.

TX Girl in KY,

Thank you for taking the time to help our team understand how we may best improve. It is true; our hotel is located adjacent to two university campus and situated between the FSU Tuck center and the Doak Campbell stadium. With the 60,000+ college students living and commuting in our neighborhood everyday there is definitely 24 hour activities. We completely understand that guest which may not be familiar with an active downtown atmosphere can be negatively impacted by these activities. We hope you may accept our team’s apology for any disruption the situation may have caused for your recent stay and we were very glad to hear that you were able to enjoy your time in the Tallahassee area. We look forward to seeing you very soon.

We have stayed in many residence inns, and this is one of the best we've stayed in. Spacious rooms, comfortable mattresses. Breakfast was significantly better than usual. Very close to FSU and the Capitol. Rooms facing the street can be a bit noisy, so ask for a room facing the parking lot.

This is the first time I have stayed at a Residence Inn and I must say I was surprised and impressed. The rooms are spacious, and are more like a 1 bedroom apartment. Fully equipped kitchen area, separate bedroom and living areas. I found the hotel and rooms to be very clean and welcoming. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Only down sides were I forgot my toothpaste and when I went to the front counter to ask for toothpaste, they were out and no place to hang a hand towel in the bathroom area.

Dee,

Well, surprise and impress is what we do at Residence Inn! Our entire team was excited to hear that you enjoyed your time at our hotel. We hope you may accept our apology for the inconvenience created by the unusual toothpaste outage at the desk. All our guest bathrooms are equipped with 2 towel bars, one is located behind the entrance door and the second is next to the shower. Perhaps the next time you will be able to join us for our new evening Mix, serving complimentary craft beers, fresh made sangria, and snacks Monday – Wednesday.

We are looking forward to your return.

Horrible mattresses, cheap windows, poor construction, dirty rooms.

Moved from front of hotel to back because of noise. Still didn't sleep. Blood on duvet, someone came to give us a new one (housekeeping couldn't be found) and instead of bringing us another duvet, we got a mattress cover. Hair in bathroom. Coffee is U drinkable.

I would only recommend this to 20-something's who are going to a football game at FSU. Kitchen will come in handy and you don't care if you sleep or not.

Why bother to build a new hotel if you aren't going to build a good one?

Room Tip: Insist on backside; however, don't expect quiet or sleep.

It is true, as mentioned in previous comments our hotel is located in a very popular neighborhood which is adjacent to the university campus. In the past we have found many of the travelers who choose our location do so specifically to be near the campus and they tend to enjoy the excitement created by area’s activities. Equally we understand the importance of finding a comfortable spot to rest, relax and recharge while you are away from home and our team works very hard to help each of our guest with that goal. As we pride ourselves on delivering a memorable hotel experience, we have unfortunately fallen short of our goal during your stay. Please accept our team’s apology for the multiple items you encountered. We have shared your housekeeping and service feedback with the appropriate hotel team to ensure that those were isolated issues that are corrected moving forward.

We were very surprised to hear that you did not enjoy our new Sealy mattresses. The new upgraded pillow top mattresses were just installed during recent rooms’ renovation last fall. Many of our guests have indicated how much they have enjoyed the new mattresses. We understand there are wide varying very personal preferences for finding the exact best fit for each person.

Upholding our commitment to provide a memorable experience with exceptional service, we hope to have an opportunity to better your experience with us whenever your travels bring you back to Tallahassee.

Warm Regards,

Keith Hoogerheyde

very close to FSU but the walls are paper thin. We heard every noise from the hallway, and streets. A train passes every morning at 6AM and blows the horn about 10 times. The buffet is OK except for the watered down sewer water they call coffee.

Room Tip: The free WIFI was so slow we couldn't use it

Brett M,

Our team was very disappointed to hear of your negative experience. We hope you may accept our apology for the inconvenience you encountered.

It is true we are located between two universities, the FSU Tucker Event Center, and the Doak Campbell Stadium. Our convenient and popular location has 60,000 college students living and commuting daily within our immediate neighborhood. With the many wonderful upgrades our area is the up and coming Art and Entertainment District of Tallahassee. Most of the college students and many of our guest enjoy the wide variety of cool little local flavors for dining and evening entertainment that are now within walking distance to the hotel. In fact currently under construction, across the street at the Garages on Gaines, is a local coffee roaster - Catalina Coffee. This will be a great addition to our hotel for an upgraded morning coffee experience with a local flavor! The many activities in our area create an dynamic 24 hour downtown atmosphere that has been long missing in the Tallahassee area. As you can imagine this is a contrast from the solitude often found in a secluded suburban location. We completely understand individuals not accustom to downtown city activities in a college setting may find this pattern disruptive.

To ensure our guest remain highly productive during their stays wWe have recently upgraded our complimentary WiFi bandwidth to 3mbps which generally meets most travelers’ daily email and internet activities. We also offer 10mbps for a small daily purchase which is recommended for the more intense user with video conferencing or streaming needs.

We most appreciate the time you have taken to help our team understand how we may best improve for our future guest!

Warm Regards,
Keith Hoogerheyde
