“Noisy, bad beds don't stay”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

Horrible mattresses, cheap windows, poor construction, dirty rooms.

Moved from front of hotel to back because of noise. Still didn't sleep. Blood on duvet, someone came to give us a new one (housekeeping couldn't be found) and instead of bringing us another duvet, we got a mattress cover. Hair in bathroom. Coffee is U drinkable.

I would only recommend this to 20-something's who are going to a football game at FSU. Kitchen will come in handy and you don't care if you sleep or not.

Why bother to build a new hotel if you aren't going to build a good one?

Room Tip: Insist on backside; however, don't expect quiet or sleep.

It is true, as mentioned in previous comments our hotel is located in a very popular neighborhood which is adjacent to the university campus. In the past we have found many of the travelers who choose our location do so specifically to be near the campus and they tend to enjoy the excitement created by area’s activities. Equally we understand the importance of finding a comfortable spot to rest, relax and recharge while you are away from home and our team works very hard to help each of our guest with that goal. As we pride ourselves on delivering a memorable hotel experience, we have unfortunately fallen short of our goal during your stay. Please accept our team’s apology for the multiple items you encountered. We have shared your housekeeping and service feedback with the appropriate hotel team to ensure that those were isolated issues that are corrected moving forward.

We were very surprised to hear that you did not enjoy our new Sealy mattresses. The new upgraded pillow top mattresses were just installed during recent rooms’ renovation last fall. Many of our guests have indicated how much they have enjoyed the new mattresses. We understand there are wide varying very personal preferences for finding the exact best fit for each person.

Upholding our commitment to provide a memorable experience with exceptional service, we hope to have an opportunity to better your experience with us whenever your travels bring you back to Tallahassee.

Warm Regards,

very close to FSU but the walls are paper thin. We heard every noise from the hallway, and streets. A train passes every morning at 6AM and blows the horn about 10 times. The buffet is OK except for the watered down sewer water they call coffee.

Room Tip: The free WIFI was so slow we couldn't use it

Brett M,

Our team was very disappointed to hear of your negative experience. We hope you may accept our apology for the inconvenience you encountered.

It is true we are located between two universities, the FSU Tucker Event Center, and the Doak Campbell Stadium. Our convenient and popular location has 60,000 college students living and commuting daily within our immediate neighborhood. With the many wonderful upgrades our area is the up and coming Art and Entertainment District of Tallahassee. Most of the college students and many of our guest enjoy the wide variety of cool little local flavors for dining and evening entertainment that are now within walking distance to the hotel. In fact currently under construction, across the street at the Garages on Gaines, is a local coffee roaster - Catalina Coffee. This will be a great addition to our hotel for an upgraded morning coffee experience with a local flavor! The many activities in our area create an dynamic 24 hour downtown atmosphere that has been long missing in the Tallahassee area. As you can imagine this is a contrast from the solitude often found in a secluded suburban location. We completely understand individuals not accustom to downtown city activities in a college setting may find this pattern disruptive.

To ensure our guest remain highly productive during their stays wWe have recently upgraded our complimentary WiFi bandwidth to 3mbps which generally meets most travelers’ daily email and internet activities. We also offer 10mbps for a small daily purchase which is recommended for the more intense user with video conferencing or streaming needs.

We most appreciate the time you have taken to help our team understand how we may best improve for our future guest!

Warm Regards,
Keith Hoogerheyde

We drove to Tallahassee to visit family for Easter. The hotel was very neat and clean and the room spacious and comfortable. The only problem I did have was that my daughter ran down to breakfast at 10:00 to get a waffle for me, I woke late suffering with a sinus infection. As she was pouring the batter into the waffle maker, a worker told her in no way was she allowed to use the facility since it was now closed and they were going to clean. Now I understand if it was 10:15 or so, I work in the industry and this is unacceptable. Part of the hotel bill is the breakfast, nothing is free, and the customer is always right. So do have a little patience if a person wants to grab something.

The location is great, especially with the upgrade of the area in between the universities. The room was large and convenient, but with small problems. Both the fridge and the AC made a lot of noise, and one of the bed lights was connected to the main light (turning the main light off, also turned off the bed light). More disturbing was the loud music everywhere at the main floor: on the sidewalk in front of the hotel, in the lobby, in the breakfast room. Breakfast was a large disappointment. Little choice, very small space where the food was displayed. Throw-away plates, cups, plastic spoons. One does not expect this in such a relatively expensive hotel.
In the hotel were many high school students, as well as business people. It is not a good place for couples.

Our team was very disappointed to hear of the multiple concerns you encountered during your stay! The higher energy music in our public space is one of the Residence Inn’s new brand initiatives focused around the preference of Gen Next traveler. Our brand’s research has revealed this segment prefers a higher energy vibe with the music in the forefront of the atmosphere. We understand this is a large contrast from the typical elevator background music found in most hotel lobbies and we hope you may accept our apologies for any discomfort this change has caused for you.

It is true our business mix changes from time to time throughout the year, as you would expect this based on the demand in the area. We are located adjacent to 2 universities, a few blocks from the state capitol and less than a mile from Bobby Bowden’s field at Doak Campbell Stadium. Our entire hotel is equipped with one King bed and a sofa pull out in every room. This is in addition to the full complete kitchens with full size appliances in every room. We are configured to accommodate families, business travelers and couples. In the past we have found many couples enjoy our hotel during the Noles home games, as they can walk to and from the stadium!

Most of our guests are typically able to find a favorite item or two from our complete breakfast buffet. It includes a daily rotation of various hot items such as Egg’s Florentine, Sausage / Egg Biscuits, Sausage w/ red skin potato hash, Breakfast Burritos, Pancakes, and Biscuits & Gravy – plus scrambled eggs and sausage patties every day. This is in addition to our made to order waffles, fresh cut fruit, handmade yogurt parfaits, various breads and pastries, as well as 4 cold cereal selections, oatmeal and for our southerner’s - grits! Juice, coffee and tea provided. This complete, hot breakfast buffet is offered from 6:30a -9:3a Mon – Fri and 7a – 10a on the weekends. It is a self-serve buffet with quick and easy disposables.

We most appreciate the kind mention of our neighborhood. We are very excited to see the many changes. There is a wide variety of dining and entertainment options within walking distance to our hotel. In fact we just welcomed a new neighbor – Grassland Brewery, located directly across the street. They are brining Tallahassee a wide variety of fresh and local brews! Perhaps the next time you are in for a visit you will allow our team can help you find a few of the hidden local spots.

Best Regards,

This is a great place to stay if you are visiting FSU. It is just a few blocks from the school and has ample parking. The staff was friendly and the rooms were clean and comfortable. It was a bit pricey the night we stayed there were a number of events taking place that week, but the best alternative available.

Thank you so much for the wonderful comments regarding your experience at our hotel and most importantly with our team’s service! We most appreciate the time you have taken to recognize our team’s efforts. Our hotel is located only ½ block from the FSU campus and is in the up and Arts / Entertainment District for the Tallahassee area. Many of our FSU parents and business travelers have recognized the great value our location provides for their travels. Our hotel includes a wonderful complimentary breakfast in addition to our evening Mix featuring complimentary local brew on tap from Tallahassee’s own brewery, Proof! We hope your travels will return you to the Tallahassee area very soon, we looking for seeing you.

Our team was glad to hear that all went well during your visit to our hotel. It is true; with the recent changes in our neighborhood there are many great local dining and entertainment options, all within walking distance! In fact they just opened a new local brewery, Grasslands, across the street! This is in addition to Proof, Tallahassee’s local brewery, which is only located ½ block to our South – and the Brass Tap, which is located a block to our West. Next time you’re in, stop by the front desk an allow us to help you explore the many options that are available.

I stayed at the Marriott Residence Inn last night and was very impressed with the spaciousness of the room (including the kitchen), the staff, and the free breakfast. What an excellent value! Perfect location for anyone visiting FSU.

It is true; our location adjacent to the FSU campus is most convenient for visiting your students. The full kitchen in all our rooms is always an extra benefit for that long missed home cook meal for our students! We were very glad to hear that everything worked out well during your visit and we hope to see you very soon.
