“Great location, difficult to park & overpriced. ”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2014

This hotel is all about location - perfect for visits to FSU, and great for graduations (just walk across the street). However, the hotel is very overpriced as a result - even when using points. Parking is extremely limited - not enough for one car per room in the hotel. If you find a spot you won't want to leave and lose it.

The rooms are standard Residence Inn, but none of them have full stoves (which is not disclosed online). The staff was nice enough to let us use their oven one day to cook dinner, but kind of a hassle.

Breakfast was great and plentiful, with lots of seating inside and some outside. Weeknight happy hour food was lacking - one night was sad "sliders," mini burgers on stale buns. No cheese, lettuce or tomatoes, just mustard and catsup.

The outdoor pool and hot tub are nice too. A little awkward looking from the pool into the parking lot - wish there was some more privacy.

The art store on the bottom is a must visit. Unique items, and a great place to take kids. Every kind of Sharpie you could ever want.

They have built more restaurants and bars in the area over the last few years, which makes it much more convenient for picking up something for dinner.

Overall, a good choice, just be aware of the parking issue and high price.

Thank you for taking the time to provide the details of your stay. You are correct; our hotel is very conveniently located adjacent to the FSU campus, across the street from the graduation venue, and only .5 miles from the Doak Campbell Stadium. We have recently completed some wonderful new design and decor upgrades for your next visit.

See you very soon,

My husband and I stayed at the Residence Inn Tallahassee Universities at the Capitol for two nights during FSU Orientation. The hotel is conveniently located just a few blocks from campus.

Our room was absolutely beautiful and decorated in FSU garnet and gold! It featured a King-sized bed, a sleeper sofa, desk, small dining table and a full kitchen. Everything was spotless and very comfortable.

The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. There is a map of FSU in the lobby, and the staff were there to help us figure out where we needed to go.

Breakfast (included in our rate) was very good. It not only featured cereal, pastries, yogurt and fruit, but there were hot selections (scrambled eggs, sausage, Canadian bacon, etc.) each morning, plus Belgian waffles, coffee and juice.

Now for the negatives...the area immediately surrounding the hotel is not the nicest. The walls and windows are extremely thin as well, so if you are a light sleeper, I would recommend bringing ear plugs. We heard traffic, sirens, and even a train off and on all night long.

Even though it was one of the cleanest hotels I've ever stayed in, I'm not eager to stay there again, and will likely check out other properties in Tallahassee on my future visits. If I do stay at the Residence Inn again, I will definitely request a room on the back side of the hotel, away from the street.

Room Tip: I would request a room on the back side of the hotel (away from the street).

Knani,

Our team appreciates the time you have taken to provide the details of our stay. We were glad to hear you found our breakfast to be an excellent feature. We are very excited about all the recent changes and upgrades to our neighborhood. Located adjacent to the FSU campus brings the energy of the campus directly to our neighborhood. We are fast becoming the Arts and Entertainment District of the Tallahassee area. We hope you may soon return to experience some of the restaurants and night clubs within a short walk from our hotel!

See you soon,

While searching for a hotel in Tallahassee for a business trip, most places had increased there rate due to session going on, but this location honored the government rate and made themselves an easy choice. On top of the great location, nice room, the evening socials were wonderful. It was a cold week in Tallahassee, so to not to have to go out for food was a high point. The staff from check in to check out were outstanding! See u again soon....room is already booked!!

We recently stayed at this property for 2 nights in order to attend a family wedding. The staff could not have been nicer and went out of their way to see to our comfort.. The room was clean and aesthetically pleasing and we were so comfortable we hated to leave. The only thing I might mention is that trains roll through periodically through the night and blow their whistles. Hmmm. But these brief interruptions did not hinder getting a good night's sleep, and honestly, had nothing to do with the hotel itself. Overall, a great stay!

Room Tip: ask to be farthest away from the train tracks

We flew down from Syracuse to watch the ACC game between Syracuse and Florida State. This hotel is centrally located between the BB stadium and FB stadium. Both are within walking distance. If you like walking the capital / downtown area is about a mile walk. The hotel has ample parking, and free shuttle to and from the airport. Rooms are clean and kitchens are stocked with everything you need to feel like you are at home. The pool looked nice, as did the hot tub, only problem was the hot tub wasn't heat. The employees were friendly and helpful. Would and will definitely stay again.

Green Features: Lobby is open with livingroom style chairs. There is another area where breakfast is served that has tables, chairs, TV for another option other than hanging out in your hotel room

We truly enjoyed staying at this property. We were attending a Brad Paisley concert at the civic center across the street. We enjoyed being able to walk to it as well as the local restaurants. It was very COLD outside and our room was very cozy, quiet and relaxing. I think when people have the opportunity to get out of town for the weekend that this is important qualities since most are very busy with Family and other life obligations otherwise.

Room Tip: Very quiet and cozy.
