“Do not take two cars packed waiting to move your student into apartment.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013 via mobile

Imagine packing two SUV s to the fullest to move your daughter into an apartment by 11:00 am. Of course you stay over the night before as close as possible to FSU. Then to be told you can only have one parking space. You can park your other car on the street. Ok at least 4m worth of new things TV s etc parked on the street. Are you kidding me. Then to see free spaces all night and see construction workers parking their cars in the lot in the am that are working across the street. Also a U Haul truck was allowed to park over three parking spaces. I would never stay here again when there are places who really care about their guests and use common sense. The car and contents were ok but the list sleep was not. Not the friendly Residence Inn I have known over the years. Everything else was as expected by Residence Inn. Very nice. Just be prepared

Our team was happy to hear that all went ok with your new student move in this fall semester. We hope they are settled into their new space and off to a great start for the new year!

We completely understand the extra added stress that each of our parents and students face during this difficult time. For many families it may be the first time of extended separation, with added financial strain, not to mention the new or unfamiliar processes involved with independent campus life! Our team works very hard to ensure our limited parking resources are solely dedicated to our guest. It is most unfortunately that during this difficult time nearly every guest arriving at the hotel will have 2 or more vehicles. As you can imagine this creates a heavier than usual load for our parking area. Some of the students and parents often arrive with oversized moving vehicles or trailers. Our onsite parking area accommodates 1 vehicle per suite. To ensure all guest have a parking space available regardless of their hour of arrival we do not allow any second or oversized vehicle / trailers in our parking area. Our team controls this effort with the use of parking permits issued at the time of check in.

This past move in week, as mentioned in your comments, we found a temporary issue of one U-Haul trailer parked as you described, overnight on the lot. Fortunately our team was able to locate the owner the next morning to provide guidance on the area’s available parking, nearby the hotel. The FSU Donald Tucker Civic center, located across the street from the hotel, has oversized parking available for $5 per day. Additionally, most of the students arriving already have campus parking permits. Many have found the FSU parking garage located ½ block north of our hotel is a very convenient location for their student’s vehicle during the move in process. With the recent neighborhood upgrades and the addition of the new student housing complexes adjacent to our hotel, we now offer nearby complimentary off street parking as an additional option!

We appreciate your patience and understanding with this difficult and inconvenient situation. Our team works very hard to ensure every guest has one onsite complimentary parking space - protecting our limited resources for all concerned. Please contact my office directly at 850/329-9041 if you have any questions or concerns.

This hotel is a newer hotel. It is clean and well maintained. My boys loved the pool table in the lobby. The best thing about this hotel was the staff! Friendly and helpful people. They was having a class reunion on the other side of the hotel and it did not affect the noise level at all on the guest side. The only negative thing about the hotel is that I would not suggest to take a walk very far at night. It seems that the location is a neighborhood in transition of revitalizing itself to a better place

We were glad to hear you enjoyed the amenities in our suites! The location to campus is definitely unmatched and starting your day with a complete hot complimentary breakfast is always a nice bonus. Our eclectic looking neighborhood is fast becoming Tallahassee’s new cultural center. Fortunately, the neighborhood construction is beginning to wind down as most of the new complexes are expecting occupancy for the fall semester. Additionally, we are welcoming many new dining and entertainment options within walking distance to our hotel, most expected to open this fall with the completion of the new apartment complexes around our building. On your next visit, stop by the desk and ask for some local favorite dining options!

This hotel seemed fairly new. The neighborhood seems to be transforming from an old run down area with a lot of new housing going up. The pool and hot tub were nice. The room was big and had everything we needed except for a second bed. My kids didn't like sleeping on a sofa bed. They offered a nice little free buffet at dinner with free beer and wine and also a decent breakfast buffet. The Capital, the Supreme court and a Museum was only about a mile away. We were able to check out the supreme court building which my kids loved. We later went Zip lining at the Tallahassee Museum which was about 10 minutes from the hotel.

It was awesome to hear that you were able to enjoy some of the fun activities in the Tallahassee area! The zip lining is a blast, and only a few minutes from our hotel. Our neighborhood is in the final phases of transition. The street front and utilities upgrades have all been completed. There are several new housing developments currently under construction; most will include dinning and retail! We are fast becoming the cultural hot spot for Tallahassee. Our neighborhood's location, adjacent to the FSU campus, allows for easy walking to most campus buildings and activities!

See you soon.

This was a very nice hotel and very convenient for moving my daughter in to FSU. The breakfast that they put out is very nice and filling; my husband was very impressed with that. The rooms are great with full sized refridgerators and stoves in our suite both times we stayed. I think the rooms are a little over priced, but I am willing to pay the higher price for convenience! Everyone at the hotel was very friendly and we could walk to the football stadium if we wanted to. Right now there is construction going on next to the hotel, but that didn't bother us at all. It's also across the street from the convention center which is a good location. I think it may be close to a not so great neighborhood, but we didn't have any issues with that; it just looked like some of the surroundings were older and rundown. We also went to dinner in downtown Tallahassee and it took us a minute to get there. We will definately stay here again for the good service, breakfast and the convenience.

It is true; our location is one of the most popular for visits to the campus! Located directly on the Southeast corner of the campus we are within walking distance to Doak Campbell Stadium and across the street from the civic center. Our eclectic neighborhood is a becoming a beautiful gem in the Tallahassee arts and cultural community. We hope to see you often on your family visits to the campus. Please let us know how we may further assist you.

This is a pretty standard Residence Inn. Nothing particularly sets it aside to say it would be one of their best or one of their worst properties. We have stayed there for the past two years while retrieving our son from a summer camp at FSU and the 2012 and 2013 stays were virtually identical. The front desk staff are quite friendly, the hotel is clean, and the property well-kept. Despite the presence of girls' softball teams 2012 and boys' basketball teams 2013 in town for tournaments, the staff did an admirable job keeping the substantial breakfast offerings stocked under the demanding circumstances. The location is very convenient to FSU and the Convention Center, but the corner it is located on feels desolate. The opening of the Crepevine restaurant in the last year on the opposite corner has helped alleviate that feel a bit as well as providing a good easy walking distance meal option. Our family has every intention of staying there next year when our son attends the camp again. It is an ideal hotel for solo or family travel to this area of Tallahassee. Couples might prefer something with a more romantic ambiance.

It was great to hear your family enjoyed your return trip to hotel. We appreciate the wonderful comments regarding our team's service! There are many changes underway for our neighborhood. Several new restaurant additions on our corner - including a great new vegan option call the Wild Green's Cafe, Gaines Street Pie serving fresh made pizza, salad and sandwhiches and the popular VooDoo Dog. We looking forward to seeing you next year.

In Tallahassee to deliver daughter to FSU summer camp. Hotel has Great location. Near everything! including a lot of construction. Appears to be in middle of a run down area that Tallahassee is trying to rebuild, little to no curb appeal! and no sense of neighborhood security. Though they tell me it is safe.

Nice modern lobby, friendly staff. Game room with pool table.
Swimming pool is nice but looks out onto the parking lot. The aesthetics aren't there.
Breakfast was average for this type of hotel.

Problem we had was with the room. Comfort and cleanliness issues.

Comfort. Is not the bottom line a hotel a place to sleep! Beds are like like sleeping on bricks. FIRM FIRM FIRM. I mean firm. A solid foam mattress (not memory foam, just foam) that I'm sure will last a long time. We swapped with the kids for the couch bed. The protruding springs and cross support bars of the fold out bed reminded me of why I have one at the house to offer guests I don't want to stay long! One son opted to sleep on the couch pillows on the floor. He slept best of all. Back aches and shoulder aches all round. Horrible experience.

Cleanliness. Soiled underwear from a previous occupant were under the hanging curtains in the bedroom. Items from previous occupants were under the couch bed when we opened it. What else was over looked in the cleaning process??? Sorry this is unacceptable anywhere, but at a Marriott property? (When mentioned, staff were apologetic and removed the offending items. Offered me couple of beers in compensation.)

Its a great idea: full kitchen, separate sleeping area, nice appointments etc. But some fundamentals missing! I won't be staying there again.

This property is located almost adjacent to the Convention Center, and within walking distance of FSU. The rooms are clean. The elevators here are extremely slow. The breakfast offering was substantial, and included eggs, sausage, hash browns, cereals, waffles, etc. Barbara was extremely pleasant and went out of her to way offer assistance. We didn't try the appetizers which they offered before dinner, but they smelled very good. The only thing that was disappointing was that the fitness center was under construction. Unfortunately, no one told us this upon check-in, and even when we asked about the hours later that evening we were told that it was accessible by key any time. Therefore, we were unpleasantly surprised when we went down the next morning and it was under construction. They did offer an option to use the Courtyard facilities, but we were told they didn't recommend walking, and we hadn't allowed enough time to get there by car since we didn't know it was closed. This was definitely something that should have been included on the website information and/or provided upon check-in. There was also nothing in our room that advised us of this information. Other than that, the room was nice and we would stay here again.

Thank you for the wonderful comments on our breakfast menu. It is a most complete and complimentary breakfast! The team works hard at ensuring there is something a little different every morning. The complimentary evening hors d'oeuvres and beverages are equally delicious! We apologize for the inconvenience created by our exercise room renovation. We understand the situation for our alternates creates some temporary hardships and was less than optimal. We are excited to report that our exercise room renovations are fully complete! We hope to see you soon.
