“Small rooms but nice people”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2013

The hotel itself was OK. The rooms were small, but the staff was very nice and friendly. Good free hot breakfast included. However, if you got there late, it was very limited. Bathroom size was decent for a mid-range motel

Room Tip: Try to get a room AWAY from the interstate (south)

This property has a lodge theme to it....front desk staff wear safari vests, the furniture in the common areas is bulky, lots of wood paneling in the lobby area, and "distressed" furniture everywhere. This lodge theme disguises the fact that this is really an old property that is in need of updating. The furniture in the bedroom showed signs of much wear on the surfaces, the seat on the desk chair in my room (313) was stained, there was some mildew on the corner shower tiles, the a/c did not cool the room and it was noisy, and there were brown spots on the back of the bathroom door (soda?). One elevator did not work and the one that did work took several minutes to travel three floors. The A/C in the lobby of the lodge did not work so they kept all of the doors open even though it was raining outside. Breakfast is included but plan to eat it on your lap...the "great room" has three tables that seat 10 people. If you don't get a table, you will have to sit on a sofa, put your plate on the coffee table, and make it work. The breakfast hostess on duty on March 24th was more interested in talking to the front desk staff than she was keeping the food items supplied. Guests had to tell her that she was out of waffle mix and scrambled eggs. Her response was that she stops preparing food at 9am. Another guest had to tell her (at 9:15) that breakfast is supposed to be available until 10:00 on Sundays. Begrudgingly she brought out more waffle mix and reconstituted powdered eggs. Lastly, my room and the common areas are cleaned daily but what is removed is surface dirt. If you really take a look around, you'll see that this place is in need of a "deep cleaning". With so many other hotels in the area, I will not return to this hotel. You get what you pay for.

Older hotel. Nothing special. Only (2) elevators. (1) broke down. The other was very slow. Assigned us a room still undergoing cleaning. Was assigned another room. Staff opened door to enter room after we had settled in. Not a pleasant stay.

First, we were exhausted & just wanted to crash before heading back to Texas. Unfortunately, there was some kind of convention going on. Nearby hotels--Marriott, Holiday Inn Garden, Hampton Inn were fully booked, except for this hotel. So we checked in for $160 rate. As soon as we entered, all old people. The decor of the hotel was dated, very traditional, smelled old too. The room was decent though...hair dryer wasn't working and the bath sink didn't drain well (better that than the shower/tub). By check out, received a bill totalling $173. Part of the taxes included in the bill was a bed tax. Never heard of that before (must have special treatment for the beds). Just curious...On the other hand, staff were friendly. Hotel truly needs some remodeling & the price would be worth it.

I stay here all the time. Nice people. Great hospitality. Consistently good hot breakfast and an enjoyable complementary cocktail reception every evening. Very convenient location with several restaurants and fast food within walking distance.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

My son had a class field trip to Tallahassee and I chaperoned him and two other classmates. We stayed one night in Jan 2013. The rooms are ok, relatively clean, nice LCD TVs. We had a room with two double beds; bed was comfortable enough. The A/C didn’t work very well and it was January. I would hate to be staying here in the summer!! Bathrooms could use some renovation; toilet seat almost fell off; thought I was going to end up on the floor. Bathroom tile floor was scuffed up and grout seemed dirty. I guess actually the entire room, hall ways could use some maintenance. There is a coffee maker in the bathroom; pretty good coffee too. Shower had pretty good water flow. I was very impressed with the breakfast; hot breakfast (eggs, sausage, make your own waffles) and standard continental options; fruits, cereals, juice, etc...I guess they have a happy hour every evening; draft beer. We missed it; we were at dinner and the mall... Couldn’t drink anyway, but free beer is always a bonus!! There aren’t any options nearby to eat or shop; we were on a class bus trip and I forgot my tooth brush and deodorant. You would think they might have something at the front desk, but nope; sorry sir… and there wasn’t really anything close by I could walk to with 3 boys either…Overall the hotel is adequate. I probably wouldn’t stay here again; I definitely wouldn’t take my family here. I travel a lot, so my standards are probably a little higher than the average joe. Not sure what rate we paid; it was a group class trip. But just checking their web site their rates for one night, 2 adults and 2 children seemed a little high for the shape the rooms are in. The Hampton Inn & Suites next door is only $10 more.

This is our second visit to the Cabot Lodge and the good is still good. Pleasant, friendly staff, adequate breakfast, fitness guest passes and happy hour. The hotel and the room were clean, but the bathroom in our room was disgraceful. Though it was clean, it was in need of serious remodeling. The toilet was permanently stained and the door looked like it had been punched by screwdrivers. This certainly gave the appearance of neglect and deterioration. I hope the updates happen soon as the hotel still has much to offer.

Room Tip: Our room on the 4th floor was bright and clean and certainly roomy enough. Hopefully they will remod...
