When I walked into Bird's Aphrodisiac Oyster Shack my first thought was, 'garage in the ghetto'. One may think this unfair and perhaps pretentious, but that was my personal interpretation. Regardless, I wanted to see what all the fuss was about (I had heard their grouper sandwich was worth the digs).
The first time I was here (about a year ago), I ordered the hamburger. It was very good but there are better in Tallahassee. So this time I ordered the grouper.
The grouper sandwich was very fresh. I did not care much for the bread, however. To me, a sandwich achieves greatness through the quality of the bread.
The grouper sandwich was $10 and comes with one side. I had my blackened, which was very good. Besides the regular lettuce and tomato, much of the add ons will cost you extra bucks, so a $10 sandwich can quickly turn into a $15 sandwich.
Summary: Bird's Aphrodisiac Oyster Shack is 2-3 notches above regular bar food.
One more thing, there is outside seating, but is just feet away from a busy road.
