This place was disgusting. The furniture in our room was filthy (stains, lint). When I closed the bathroom door for the first time, someone else's underwear was hanging on the back of it.

I have stayed in many, many hostels around the world. and this place was dirtier than any of them. We ended up checking out early.

The Lily Pad was definitely okay for the money. It's a small, 3-story place with probably no more than 30 rooms. Don't expect the Trump Towers, but if you're on a budget...it's not a bad choice. I too was a little hesitant because I couldn't find any reviews about it. But it turned out to be a good location north of the crowds and club atmosphere. The covered parking was nice, the location was convenient to Publix, CVS, the Bal Harbor Shops, and dining which meant we never had to move our car except for sight-seeing. We were across the street from the beach but had great beach access. We were disappointed there was no pool though. The room was clean and maid service was always prompt when we needed something. Our room had a small balcony that faced the street. That was both good and bad. We could see the beach (at an angle), but we also heard the honking horns and busses starting and stopping all too frequently therefore, sleep was interrupted too frequently also. The kitchen could have used an update. Appliances were old (but clean). When we arrived we didn't have a coffee maker in our room, but asked for one and a maid delivered it in just minutes. Bathroom had tub and shower...but the bathroom window was stuck and wouldn't close. We had to sleep with the bathroom door shut to muffle the outside noise from the street below. All outdoor entrances to the building are locked at night, so always take your room key. There were laundry facilities on each floor that didn't appear to be used much. If you're looking for a low-cost vacation, the Lily Pad should fit your budget..

Hi I just got back from Miami and my family and I stayed at the Lilypad. I was a bit weary of staying here because I couldn't find any reviews, but once I arrived and saw how close we were to the beach I got excited. The kids loved being so close to beach and I loved that we had a fully equipped kitchen and a large supermarket steps from the hotel. It was perfect and a very cost effective way to spend a beach holiday with kids. I'd definetely stay here again. The neighborhood the hotel is in is super cute and everything I wanted from our trip to Miami. It's very local and a classic Miami Beach neighborhood with small shops, an ice-cream parlor, an awesome fresh sushi restaurant , local pub and next to very posh outdoor mall.
I hope you enjoy your trip as much as we did....don't forget your sunscreen!
