We had a terrific al fresco lunch here. With some hours to kill between our cruise ship arrival and our flight out, the transfer arrangements included a stop at Saw Grass Mall, so we ended here for lunch. Hard to imagine how we’d have found a better lunch anywhere.
As it turned out we were just ahead of a largish lunch crowd eating in the spacious, comfortable courtyard. Our waiter said they were just wrapping up a fire inspector’s visit, so there may be a small delay in the arrival of our food, but in fact everything came in prompt fashion. Excellent bread, tasty focaccia, and a lovely cup of bruschetta fixings we could spoon onto the bread or not as we chose. Good by the glass wine choices at good prices for a large pour; about half again the size of a glass of wine on the ship we’d just left.
We shared a Caesar salad and a curiously named pizza “Picante,” since it was only a sausage pizza, and not at all zesty sausage at that. On the other hand the shared Caesar was served on separate plates and each “half” was about the size of an average dinner salad, and the crust, sauce, & cheese on the pizza were all superb. The sausage was just fine, if modestly bland. A few sprinkled red chili flakes picanted it up just fine. Superb espresso to finish.
Reading other reviews about inconsistent service, it did look as if the staff were mostly in training. People who brought the food had no idea who had ordered what at the tables around us, and I had to ask several times for the chili flakes, but with food this tasty in a pleasant courtyard on a perfect March day in FL, we had an excellent lunch
