Stay elsewhere!!! The beds were very hard and uncomfortable. Myself, my husband and our 17 year old daughter woke up every morning with backaches. We stayed here figuring we only needed a place to sleep since we would be out most of the day. We have stayed in many hotels before but this was definetely the worst!! We weren't expecting anything other than a comfortable bed and was terrribly disappointed. Just like the other reviewer stated there is a train that runs past the hotel and is noisy at night.

My family and I were spending Thanksgiving day with family in nearby Palm City (less than 5 min drive away) and decided to spend the night in a local motel. We've stayed in Stuart before (at the Surburban......big EWWWW!) so we had some reservations about the quality of the rooms. So from all the reviews on Tripadvisor, particularly the last one, we decide to take a chance on Best Western Downtown Stuart. My husband booked the night before for a very reasonable rate of $74.95 with us hoping for the best, expecting the worst. Used a coupon we found or AAA. Not sure which one but it was still very reasonable. When we got to the motel, the clerk let us check in early and I was pleasantly surprised by the rooms. My utmost priorities, having two toddlers, were cleanliness and security. The bathroom area was CLEAN (they provide Pantene Pro-V shampoo, not so shabby), the bed sheets clean and crisp. Nice SECURE locks on the doors. No weirdos loitering outside. Bonus for us, the rooms were very well kept and had pretty, MODERN decor and ample space for more than one evenings stay. I was quite pleased. In the morning we made a mad dash for the complimentary Continental breakfast at 9:15 am while it's over by 9:30 am the gracious waitress was still very accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. She even made sure that the 30 or so Russians who stormed in minutes before 9:30 were taken care of. Now THAT's service! The Continental breakfast itself was more than adequate. There is a make your own belgian waffle station, muffins, bread, a toaster, warm oatmeal, cereal, scrambled eggs, juice, milk coffee. All buffet style, as much as you care to eat. We asked for a late check out and were able to get an extra hour so we had time to enjoy the pool. It was very clean and the water temperature was perfect. It was very nice over all. I was relieved that this place wasn't what others had described in the past. If you are ever stopping through Stuart, this Best Western is a very safe bet. I would stay here again.

Having read prior reviews, I believe they are misleading. I stayed at this property as the result of an automotive breakdown. The hotel is a former Holiday Inn (old-style exterior corridor with a pool in the courtyard) that has changed brands. As a hotel operator I was impressed with the quality of the renovation. I have been in a number of similar hotels and this was the best renovation of this style property that I have seen. Furniture, carpet and fabric are all comparable to those used in brand-new hotels. By the looks of the pool and the mature courtyard landscape, they have always taken pride in their property and it appears that the owners are present in the operation, which has a very positive impact on the quality of service. They had no idea that I was in the business and watching/inspecting and the service was always friendly & competent. If you are needing to go to Stuart, I would recommend a stay at this property.

We booked two rooms for this hotel from Friday to Monday for a wedding. When we got there the beds were full size, the rooms had a strong musty odor and were very smoky. The staff response was that they have no control over what people do once they are in a room therefore they can not control if guests smoke in a non smoking room. The place is not a 3 Star hotel as advertised on tripadvisor, Hotwire, or hotels. com only priceline got the ratings probably correct at 2 stars. Even when we asked the staff & the manager they all stated that the hotel was by no means a 3 star and since they are trying to renovate the place they are expecting it to be in the future. We were very disappointed. It was so bad that after being in the rooms for 30 mins we decided to check out. We called hotwire & they basically told us that they have it rated as a 3 star & basically we have lost our money since it was non refundable. We finally found a 2 bedroom townhouse at nearby Castle Pines Golf Resorts in Punte Cana which was fabulous, gated community with all the necessary amenities. It was definitely worth loosing that $775 instead of staying in that dump. We had 2 toddlers with us & this was definitely not a place to stay with small children. The staff were courteous and helpful but the place was a low budget motel.
