“Resort living in pristine setting.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013 via mobile

The grounds are beautifully manicured with a spacious layout of the resort. Front desk was friendly and very accommodating. The pool was sparkling and very inviting with a large and well stocked Tiki bar. Guest services were attentive and respectful. The room was clean and the beds were soft and comfortable. Room service was delicious. The shuttle was reliable and easy to use. Great place to unwind or enjoy the activities.

We absolutely loved this hotel! Yes, it's a little older, but it's well kept. The pools and grounds are gorgeous. The beach is a little bit of a walk, but they have a shuttle that runs between the properties anytime you need it. I have to say, though, the best thing about this hotel is the people who work there. Every single person I talked to was extremely nice and accommodating. They even brought bandaids to our room when my daughter cut her toe and shipped her babydoll home to us when she left it behind. Marriott can be proud of how well this property is run. They've done an excellent job, here.

Dear Sammya76,

Thank you so much for sharing your experience at our resort with other TripAdvisor members. It is so gratifying to hear from guests who appreciate the time and effort each one of our associates puts into making you feel welcome and at home. We strive, every day, to maintain Marriott's excellent standards, and it is great to know that you think we are doing a good job. And we are very happy that your daugher's babydoll made it back home safely.

The main hotel is not loacted on the beach, but has a shuttle that transports guests to the Sandpiper on the beach. We stayed in the Sandpiper which is located on the beach. Our daughter stayed at the main hotel. We compared rooms and the main hotel had nicer more up to date roooms, larger pool, and the restaurant. Our Sandpiper room was OK, but we had a great ocean view and direct access to the beach. We had a rental car so getting to the main hotel for breakfast worked well for us. I consider both hotels about equal, but next time I will also consider the Marriot Courtyard Hutchinson Island Oceanside which is on the beach a short drive away. We stopped there and the rooms were about $50 less and it had a nice beach with a pool. The staff at the hotel was very friendly. Every staff person we met greeted us. We were very satisfied with our stay.

Room Tip: I always like a high room with a balcony and view.

Dear smauble,

Thank you so much for your review. Every traveler is different and while some prefer the Main Tower, others prefer to be right on the beach at the Sandpiper. In addition to being able to drive yourself to the Main Tower from the Sandpiper accommodations, the resort provides a convenient, complimentary shuttle which runs continuously every 15 minutes for those who do not have their own transportation. Please also note that the Hutchinson Island Marriott is a full-service resort and while there may be lower priced accommodations nearby, you need to compare if they both offer the same range of facilities, as often a full-service resort features many amenities (e.g., a restaurant, lounge, etc.) that another property does not and this accounts for the difference in price. In any regard, we are very happy that you were satisfied with your stay and appreciate sharing your experience with others.

I had read the reviews on TripAdvisor and the accomodations were about what I expected. A superficial facelift has been done and the rooms were very clean. Overall, the hotel is slightly below what I consider to be Marriott standards, but to be fair, the price we paid reflected that. We had a junior suite with a kitchenette, granite countertops, a breakfast bar and a small dining table with three (?) chairs. With a pullout sofa and folding cot, we had plenty of room for our family of four. Two t.v.s and an actual door on the bedroom made things a lot more pleasant. The staff was very, very nice. We had inclusive breakfast, which was great. The wait staff was lovely and they have a nice buffet, omelette station, lots of fresh fruit, etc. That was really an added value to the stay.

We stayed in the Sandpiper building, which is right on the water and I recommend it highly. The mail hotel building is not "1/4 mile" away, it's actually about 3/4 mile away. There are transports every fifteen minutes, but I think for the extra money, staying in Sandpiper was totally worth it.

The hotel pools are okay, but close at 10pm, which was a disappointment to my children.

Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience and I recommend it highly as long as you understand the compromises as far as condition of the hotel. The beach is just beautiful and that really made the trip. The Marriott was loaded with families and clearly worked to make it a pleasant experience for them. I do recommend having a car, though.

Room Tip: Get Sandpiper Tower.

Dear Kathleen B,

We are so happy to hear that your family enjoyed your stay with us. It is our goal to maintain the excellence of Marriott Standards and we are sorry that you felt we fell slightly below these standards. We will always do our best to fix any issues that you may have if you tell us while you are here at the resort. The standard for our Sandpiper rooms is for the dining table to have four chairs. There may have been an issue with a chair that required repair which is why it was removed, but you could have simply contacted the front desk to request a fourth chair. With regard to the closing time of our pool, 10 p.m. is a standard for most hotels that encompass the pool near to guest rooms. We have a unique set up where the pool is in the center of the courtyard. As such, guest rooms in the Main Tower all face the pool and we must be respectful of these guests and create a restful environment by closing the pool at 10 p.m. We hope that your family has a wonderful time wherever your next adventure may take you.

+ location
+ nice and helpful employees
- small rooms (junior suite for 6 and occupied by 2 adults and 3 children was too small)
- equipement poor (just microwave and refridgerator, no glasses to drink, no forks or knives, no plates, no cups...)

The Marriott Beach resort has a lot to offer. You have a lot of options including relaxing by one of the three pools or playing golf and tennis or lounging at the beach. The hotel is also adjacent to the marina which has water sports. The property is a little unconventional in the layout since it seems to have expanded over time. The hotel is located on Ocean Blvd which is not on the beach, but is within 100 yars of the marina. They have a shuttle system that constantly runs around the entire property and can get you to the beach or golf course in 2-4 minutes. The hotel is 4 levels and is not spectacular, but being a Marriott it is still very nice. It has a large heated pool with a great bar/food area. The staff is very friendly. It also has a dining room and work out room. The golf course is very nice and sits right next to and around the hotel. It is a very high end Executive course (Par 61). If you are like me you probably don't consider that real golf, however I played the course twice and it was really a lot more than I expected. I played it from the back tees which makes it more challenging. It has water on 17 of the 18 holes and has 2 or 3 par 4's and one par 5 that has water right in front of the green. I expecially like this hole since you have to make the "go for it" or "layup" decision every time you play it. It's really difficult to get to the green in two shots unless you are hitting 275+ drives. The golf course has an aqua driving range which is very appealing for the kids since you hit floater balls out into the water. Drivers are not allowed for better golfers since the range is probably about 200-225 yards long. Right next to the golf course is another pool and the tennis facility and workout room. That pool is smaller and is also heated. This a great pool to swim laps since its not crowded. The 3rd pool is located at the "Sandpiper" and is also heated. The shuttle drops you off right at the pool where you can walk up the ramp and onto the beach. You can also rent beach chairs/umbrellas. The hotel charges $15/day activity fee and that includes the use of the work-out rooms, towel service at all the pools, free driving range privledges, free tennis court time, and internet access. All in all it is well worth the $15/day since I hate being charge extra for all those services. Hutchinson island is quiet and relaxing and is right next to Jensen beach. There are some good restaurants in Jensen beach such as Tony Roma's and the Benihana in Hurchinson is great since they had happy hour pricing until 8pm whcih includes drinks and sushi.

Our friends always stay here, and my daughter was willing to pay the price....The location is wonderful. The staff is great. We did not stay in the beachfront Sandpiper, but our friends did. Rooms are almost identical.... $150 more expensive to stay on the beach...and has a smaller pool. Needs some updating.... shower and bathroom area by the pool smelled and was dirty, and a concrete floor.... after charging our friends $289 a night for the room and a $15 a day "resort fee", they charge you $20 for 2 lounger chairs to lay on the beach...you get towels free!!!!! No breakfast is furnished....although I did talk to someone that said they had a free breakfast included in their room. If it were me.....and you didn't HAVE to stay on the beach....I would stay at the Hampton, and go to a public beach!!!! If you are not concerned with price...a great golf course on site, and nice rooms!!!!! They do have awesome beds, but you choose either king or doubles instead of queens. Doubles are just not big enough for 2 people to sleep comfortable. But they do offer free rollaways.

Dear 2babybluz,

We appreciate your feedback about our resort. The Hutchinson Island Marriott is a resort hotel with all of the full-service amenities guest expect at a resort property. While there are certainly more inexpensive properties available in the area, they are less expensive because they do not offer the complete range of resort facilities and amenities that we do. Guests who want the convenient access to the beach, pool, restaurants and lounges, etc. prefer to stay at a full-service resort versus a select stay property with limited facilities. Every traveler knows what it important to them and we hope that each selects the resort or hotel that best suits their budget, lifestyle, and preferences. We wish you very happy travels wherever your next vacation may take you.
