If you're in a hurry and not particularly picky about your sushi, by all means eat here. I know people who go just for the raw fish on the sashimi, discarding the rice, and they are perfectly happy with Kyojin. Most everyone else we know, all of us customers since day 1, have started looking elsewhere. Why? They have about four sushi makers (obviously not real sushi chefs) hacking away behind the counter, turning out large, sloppy rolls with more of an emphasis on speed than quality. Sometimes the rice hasn't even cooled off, and a large wad of warm starch really puts a damper on the sushi experience.
The hot bar is just OK, but lately the offerings have been more starchy/greasy than tasty...not even my grease/starch deprived child who ordinarily inhales Chinese food would finish her food, and that's bad.
It seems like every Asian buffet in town opens strong and then gradually decreases in quality. Kyojin held out for longer than most, but unfortunately the result seems to be the same.
