This time flying back into Miami airport from the Caribbean, we found ourselves in a different terminal than we were used to. The first thing we did was check the board for restaurants and found a listing for Bongo's Cuban Cafe (in the Delta terminal). We usually eat at La Carreta when we are flying American Airlines.
The cafe is in a little food court area and looks like a bar, so we were a little unsure. But, a woman sitting there said she always eats here when travelling, so we decided to try it out. The eating area overlooks one of the runways.
We had fried plantains with garlic butter dip as our appetizer and some delicious pork with lots of onions, rice and beans as our main course. We shared both the appetizer and entree and the portions were generous enough for sharing. The food was absolutely delicious. Service was quick and our server was pleasant and helpful.
We did not have time to stay for dessert or coffee, but they do offer traditional Cuban coffee.
This is definitely a "return to" place if we are ever in that same terminal agin.
