“concept 'A' decor 'B' food 'C+”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2011

We liked the restaurant ! our food was hot ! good ! but we didnt get the big wow factor I had hoped for, Im sorry they were out of the grits that day they sounded like they would of been good with shrimp. We liked the way the restaurant looked inside, its simple looking but goes with the food that is served there. It was a little noisy!- but like i always say and tell people if you want peace and quiet stay at home dont eat out 90% of restaurant s are noisy.
We will try this place again i think this is a place a lot of locals go to and lots of regulars also which means its good we just have to order the right item. We had the 'aged cheddar with toast ponts' app, it was ok, my wife had the Whisk burritos' they to were ok, I had the 'Quail special with roasted spinach & baby carrots & tyme infused rice which tasted just like plain rice. The location is not good been to this area many times and if i was not told to try this place i would never have seen it or found it, off the main street . Give it a try ! tho

“Whisk needs to work out a few problems in the new location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2010

Tried the new location in Coral Gables, just south of Sunset drive, one block east of Red Road. First the parking lot was very small and it was difficult to find a parking space, I noticed when leaving that a staff member was in the parking lot directing traffic. The servers were friendly but it took 45 minutes for our Fried Chicken Spinach salads to come to the table. Chicken was tender and nicely prepared, there were bits of egg, red onion and avocado. The salad was just good, a little bland but of good quality. The sandwiches are huge and I think they would have been a better choice. I really didn't like the communal dining. This restaurant has a big open kitchen, manned by many cooks, but the food was very slow coming out of the kitchen. Staff was disorganized but very polite, I think in time this will be a nice addition to our neighborhood.

“What a Treasure!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2009

I'm logging on to TA just to write a review about a chicken salad sandwich and "house chips." Okay? That should tell you how much I LOVED this little treasure in Coral Gables. The Key Lime Pie is one of the best in town -- and that is a HUGE statement for Miami, Florida. Our server was a beautiful, elegant, well-spoken young lady who could not have been nicer. My one suggestion for improvement is the espresso coffee. They use a Nespresso machine to make their coffee and that is unforgivable in this town. In Miami, (tens? of) thousands of Cuban café servings are sold daily. It is sacrilegious to serve Nespresso espresso in a gourmet eatery in a town that LIVES on good café. That one improvement will take this little eatery over the top.
