“Perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

We stayed with our two young children for a long weekend and couldn't be happier. The grounds were peaceful, the service was fantastic, and the rooms were brand new! We live in Tampa, so this was a perfect quick getaway. The hotel provides beach toys, beach chairs, towels and just about anything you could need for a comfortable stay. the mattress was too soft, thats my only complaint. We are returning for sure!

Based on a prior recommendation from a friend and because we have never visited Siesta Key, we booked a room with the Tropical Resorts. Our room was very nice and the bed beyond comfortable. Floor could have used a mopping though. Overall our stay was very relaxing, quiet, and enjoyable. The beach was one of the best we've encountered on the West Coast vs. what we are use to on the East Coast of Florida. Still can't match the "blueness" of our water on this side. LOL
The only downsides were that the beach was a "further stretch" than we were led to believe and both the pools and chairs at same could have used a little TLC....kinda grimy and dirty looking. One other thing...look for nearest Publix unless you have more money than brains to shop at the Crescent Grocery up the road...expensive!!!

Just got back from a quick 2-day stay at Tropical Sun. We live in Florida and find it easy to do spur-of-the-minute trips when we need to relax. We quickly learned that the end of August is considered "low season" on Siesta Key - great time of the year to visit!! We were able to get a "manager's special" that was 1/2 the regular price. Tropical Beach Resorts is divided into 3 different places: SaraSea; Tropical Sun; Tropical Shores. We stayed at Tropical Sun in Rm 151- Sandpiper w/ King bed. All the units in our whole building were remodeled last December and are beautiful. I understand they have a larger unit, but our room was perfect. There was a small kitchen with granite counters and stainless appliances - even had an oven & microwave & fridge with freezer. The kitchen is equipped with plates, cups, bowls, glasses, silverware, coffee pot, toaster - you get the idea! There is a glass-top table with chairs (for dining), a leather sofabed with side lamps & coffee table and the king bed. The bath had lovely tile, granite counter, tub/shower, closet with mirror sliding door and a safe. Each unit has it's own A/C unit - great to be able to control your own A/C. The place is new & very very clean. The maids come every day and replenish your towels and clean the place - they do an excellent job and should be very proud of their hard work! There are 2 pools with lots of lounge chairs - one pool seems to have more shade than the other with beautiful landscaping and large palm trees everywhere. Then there is the private beach that we (and a few other hotels) have access to. They rent umbrellas and chairs for $12 for 1/2 day and $20 for a whole day. We passed a Publix on the drive in, but found the grocery store across the street to have everything we needed to stock our fridge. In the back of this grocery store they have a deli with homemade meals (ready for the microwave) - wonderful stuff!! We found the public beaches to be beautiful and clean - reminded us of Sanibel Island. They all seem to have lots of free parking - a plus for some areas in Florida! The small "village" has lots of restaurants to select from or you could take a drive to Lido Key or Sarasota. All in all we found Siesta Key to be very relaxing and this property to be the perfect place to stay!

We stayed here twice, and will again! Staff was nice and location to beach is perfect! The sand and beaches is second to none! The drive to Armand circle I believe it's called is short and worth it for the shopping!

We originally booked a room in the Sara Sea Beach Resort, one of the other properties of this resort group, however our room was not ready when we tried to check in. No worries though, the office staff graciously offered us a bottle of champagne and a late check out the following day and changed our room to The Grand Heron Room at this property, a nicer room than we originally booked. The room was spotless and tastefully decorated with modern appliances, not the pastel-Florida look that is so popular at older condos throughout Florida. This property is a little further back from the beach, but still, a 5 minute walk at most. The beach is nice with lovely clear water and soft sand. As other reviewers have mentioned, it is a private beach that is shared by several other resorts so it still does have a lot of people on it, but it is still very nice. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I would highly recommend this and any of their other two properties. Excellent rooms, friendly and personal service, beautiful beach, what more could you want for a beach vacation? We hope that we can go back next year.

My wife and booked a stay with Topical Sun which is part of Tropical Beach Resorts. This was a kind of last minute booking to celebrate our anniversary and get away after losing our dog. We had the Sandpiper room. When we checked in they were very nice. They asked if there was anything we needed and we mentioned we had reservations at a local restaurant for our anniversary. The office sent over a bottle of wine to our room. The room was very clean and well set up. Short walk to the beach. If you don't have an umbrella or chairs you can rent them on the beach and charge it to your room. We needed an umbrella and paid $6 for half a day. Everyone smiles and the whole resort is well cared for.

We stayed at Tropical Sun Resort midweek during July. Perhaps I didn't read the website carefully, but I was under the impression that the TSR only had 3 rooms. So we arrived thinking that it would be small, quaint, and quiet. We arrived to find that it while they had 3 types or rooms, there many of those three types. Our stay was in the hummingbird room. The room itself was very nice if there are just two of you. All the kitchen amenities were there, the bathroom was clean and updated, and the bed was super comfortable. We were, however, in the middle room in a row of rooms and our neighbors were not quiet people. The walls are very thin and we had to check a few times to make sure the door was actually closed because people outside on the walkway were extremely noisy. I'd advise requesting a room on the end of the building.

Check-in went very smoothly and the people at the front desk were always helpful and friendly. You can use their chairs and towels and they even have a large selection of movies you can borrow to watch in your room in case of an afternoon storm or during the evening. They serve complimentary coffee and pink lemonade with cookies available as well which we enjoyed on the walk back from the beach.

The beach is very close, which is great. Be advised, the beach is crowded! I may be spoiled by the empty beaches of Martin County, FL, but I couldn't believe the amount of people at Crescent Beach. Now, Crescent Beach is private, but there are about 6 or 7 large resorts that use it so it doesn't seem that way. Many resorts have chairs and umbrellas already set up for their guests so it can make finding a spot tricky. That being said, we did enjoy the beach and it's close proximity to the hotel.

The pools were clean and pleasant. Though we didn't grill anything, there were a couple of grills available. In all honestly, this is a good little resort with many of the comforts of home. Nabbing the special rate ($99) in the summer is a great deal. It's probably better for families with children though. Maybe it was just our neighbors, but we could hear every word they said.

Room Tip: Try to get an end unit room. The walls/doors are paper thin.
