“Relaxing on the lagoon...what could be better!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013 via mobile

My sister has stayed here for four years previously and asked me to join her this year. We stayed in Tortuga which has a screened in porch. Some items in the kitchen area need to be updated (noisy faucet) but all in all it was a wonderful relaxing time. It's away from the hustle and bustle of Siesta Beach but close enough to get anywhere by a short car ride. The staff was very accommodating.

I have to admit, the place has potential however until it's fixed up, it's totally not worth the money, even with a Groupon. The carpets are beyond dirty and the sofa should be thrown away. We stayed at the Dolphin btw. The fridge is old and rusty and the patio consists of two cement blocks with a bunch over overgrown shrubs. The kitchen is missing dishes, the microwave has no plate inside and the paint is cracking and peeling on the ceiling. The only positive I can say is that the pool is heated and pleasant to sit around. Other than that, stay away....

We enjoyed our time at the bungalows very much. Innkeeper was very knowledgeable and attentive to our needs. Shabby chic is a good description, as it is not an elegant or luxurious spot. It is clean and comfortable however and having a free bicycle is worth an extra point.

While not fancy, the Siesta Key Bungalows was just what we were looking for. Having a groupon made our 3 nite stay a real bargain. A very nice tropical setting on Heron Lagoon mixed with vintage interiors made for the perfect spot to unwind. In addition there were many restaurants and bars within a 5-10 minute drive. We'll be back.

We stayed at the Coconut Bungalow Feb. 28 - March 4, 2013. We were celebrating my sister's birthday. Lisa worked the front desk most of the time we were there and she was so helpful. She must have gone on MapQuest a dozen times. She and her daughter came to our bungalow on my sister's birthday to present a birthday card her daughter, Alicia, made for her. The day we checked out, Lisa was at the front desk and she was also very warm and helpful. The weather didn't cooperate for our stay but everything we needed, we found in the bungalow. I would definitely recommend it and would certainly go back for another visit.

Room Tip: Just call Lynn before you book your bungalow.

We got our rooms half off from a Groupon deal. I felt like we got a big bang for our buck. We came with a small group as a sort-of family reunion. Each family/couple got their own bungalow, but we were right next to everyone else. It was PERFECT for our group. Our rooms all had kitchens, so we could bake pizzas and breakfast casseroles for quick meals. The grounds of these bungalows are top notch. It's filled with palm trees and ferns, and there is a cute, running fountain in the center. It's right on a lagoon, and there are two, single-person kayaks to take out into the water for free. We frequently sat out on a sand patio they constructed.

There isn't daily maid service, which I actually appreciated. We just left towels in a basket that we wanted replaced.

Had we paid the full price for the bungalows, I don't think we would have enjoyed them as much. There were many little problems, like peeling wall paper in one room, an oven that couldn't open all the way in one room, a gas oven with no working pilot light in one room, sagging tile ceilings in one of the kitchens, and no clocks at all in one of the rooms. We had such a good deal that we easily overlooked those inconveniences.

Room Tip: We occupied Dolphin, Pineapple, and Hibiscus. Of those, I'd say pineapple was the best. We didn...

This was supposed to be a non-smoking bungalow where we stayed but the ventilation system carried smoke from a neighboring room and made for a most unpleasant stay. A little pricey for not being directly on the Gulf. Would not stay there again.
