While on vacation this past week, my husband stumbled across an ad for this restaurant. Knowing how much I loved lobster, we decided to give it a try.
We arrived on a Wednesday morning right when they opened for lunch. We were seated immediately. Right away my husband complained that his iced tea tasted like water. My diet Pepsi was just fine. He ordered the Fried Oyster platter which came with 2 sides. Very expensive platter at $13.99. I had the Fried Clam Strips for an appetizer at $7.99. Very tasty but no lemon was served with the dish. Strange.
I ordered the Lobster Newburg at $23.99. We splurged because we were on vacation. I was so disappointed with my choice. The Newburg sauce was curled and lumpy- like a thick gravy. I believe it had been made a few days ago and just reheated. The cook could have at least used his French whip to get the lumps out and added some more sherry. The lobster was very good though and I picked all of that out. My meal was supposed to come with 2 sides and Cornbread. Never saw the cornbread. The coleslaw had no mayo, vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper- nothing. Just shredded cabbage in a small bowl. The Seasoned Rice was Rice in a packet (add water). Was very chewy and nothing more was added to the mix by the kitchen. No onions, green peppers, parsley, nothing.
But what really upset my husband was his order of Fried Oysters were very doughy. The batter was still raw and wet- like pancake batter. He could not eat them. When he complained and sent it back- we thought that the Mgmt might take the charge off the bill. $13.99 for a lunch platter was very pricey- but alas...
the charge was still there when we received the check. Paying $56 plus for lunch is terrible- but paying that amount for that garbage is an outrage!
