We have stayed at the Sara Sea Inn on at least two previous occasions before being taken over by Tropical Shores and although a little dated at the time, quite loved the inn and its location. Despite it being seemingly perfect before, the new owners have outdone themselves with completely new, fresh, and updated rooms. This complete facelift has resulted in very modern, contemporary, and elegant rooms. We could not think of a single detail overlooked. This visit, we stayed only one night, our last night, at the new Sara Sea Resort in the Hideaway Queen, albeit a small room, we felt we could have easily called it home for at least a week. The kitchen, as mentioned previously, was beautiful; granite countertop, under mount sink and all stainless appliances including a dishwasher and cupboards stocked with many amenities for making dinner at "home", toaster, coffee pot, dishes etc. A BBQ and lovely area for cooking and eating outside is also available in the beautifully landscaped courtyard with palms, tables, a fountain, and gazebo, just steps from the rooms. The bathroom was lovely, full glass shower and again granite vanity. Thick towels and bath robes, nice soaps and shampoos, the tissue was even wrapped in a raffia bow, all a very nice touch. The bed was heavenly, very soft and comfy with luxurious linens and duvet. Also, a large flat screen tv and temperature that was easily controlled. Typical Floridian tiled floors throughout make it easy to keep neat and clean and of course cool to tread upon.
The location . . . the location is just about perfect. It's just off Midnight Pass, the main street to the south end of the key, yet only about a 2-3 minute walk to a 7-11 for coffee and other necessities. The Siesta Key "village" is about a 5 minute drive towards the north end of the key and has several restaurants, cafes, banks and shops, somehow without a "tourist" or tacky feel. The setting and landscaping . . very tropical, very lush, feels like a dream-like escape from reality. The walk to the beach is nothing short of a pleasure. We look forward to the walk to the beach which, again, would take no longer than a couple of minutes. It's a beautiful stroll down a brick-paved, lighted palm-tree lined walkway off a private cul-de-sac that leads to the most beautiful beach, the most beautiful beach. The sand is almost pure quartz, so fine it closely resembles baby powder. A pool is available during the season of cooler gulf waters. Suffice to say, look no further for accommodations or a beautiful beach - Sara Sea has it all and then some. We can't wait to go back!
