“Leave Your Worries Behind”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

When we arrived at Kenilworth Lodge, we knew right away that this hotel had a history. It sits in a small town of Sebring, Florida. Walking distance from downtown, if you feel like walking. its across the street from Lake Jackson. Not far from good restaurants and shopping. It has a very hometown feeling to it. The people are very friendly, especially the staff of Kenilworth Lodge namely; Peggy, and Bob. Bob is the owner & he showed us around. He took us to check out some cabins and other accommodations they have, and he also told us a little bit of the hotel's history. The hotel has been there since the early 1900's. the rooms are old style, but homey. It even has the original door knob, very antique looking. The only disappointment we had was the bed was two twin beds push together with a king size mattress top, low water pressure in the shower, and we were supposed to have a lake view but our windows were blocked by huge tree. But the hotel itself made up for the lack of view or other disappointments we had. This hotel has everything that your family could enjoy together. You didn't even have to leave the room to have fun. They have a good size swimming pool, games like..pool table, ping pong, chest & board games. They have tons of seating in the lobby area where you can relax, warm next to the huge fireplace, or read a book from their own library. They also have 2 multi-functional ballrooms for special events. Kenilworth is the place to go if you want to spend time, relax and bond with your family. Very friendly staff and local people. We're definitely coming back. Oh yeah, book early because they're always full.

I bring a group of quilters four times a year to relax, sew and enjoy the slower pace of the hotel. The staff is the friendliest one I have encountered and are always willing to go the second mile to please their guests. Sure, the rooms are quirky, but the beds are new and comfy and the fixtures work, so we were happy. The breakfast is better than some chain hotels, with waffle makers and 24 hour fresh coffee, fruit, cereals, yogurt, eggs, pastries and juices.
Some of my quilters use the cottages and have found them very quaint and comfortable. The pool is huge and very clean, with beautiful landscaping and a large brick patio.
The men who carry in all our machines and supplies are friendly and accommodating.
I just love this hotel and will continue to bring groups here quarterly.

Our family stayed at the Kenilworth during the Heartland Triathlon weekend June 15th and 16th. We stay there every year as it has a welcoming staff, beautiful historical hotel, large pool, comfortable rooms. We have stayed in a room, Presidential suite and now our favorite which is the jacuzzi suite.

This is our 4th visit to the very friendly Kenilworth Lodge. If you come here for a taste of history you will enjoy the lobby with its grand staircase and period decor. Don't come here looking for a modern lodging experience with recent refurbishments. The property does not seem to have the funds to make the place first rate but they do make efforts to keep it up. The staff is a high point of staying here. This time we stayed in a cute little cottage across the lawn from the pool. They brought a gas grill to us to use while here and a very nice corn hole set to use out on the lawn. We love to visit the Kenilworth and just relax in the pool, play ping pong, billiards, and shuffleboard. Quiet, classic, and modest.

Room Tip: The lodge rooms have a weird set up with a steep step up into the bathrooms. Fixtures are old, plum...

I love this hotel. The staff are courteous and welcoming. You can sit in a rocker and read on the porch or visit with friends. The pool is lovely and clean. The pub owners are friendly and fun to talk to. I have stayed here twice and hope to return again and again.
The beds were very comfortable. The room was spacious and quiet. The bathroom was small but charming.

Room Tip: The corner rooms are full of light and cheerful.

Built in 1916 on the banks of Lake Jackson this old Florida style hotel still has its charms. Don't expect modern rooms, but they are clean with a comfortable bed, The rooms have window A/C units; it's best to put them in the "high cool" mode so they run all the time at medium fan speed and don't keep turning on and off in the middle of the night. The third floor trends to be hotter than the lower floors. The front veranda with rockers is spacious, cool, and fun to sit on. Nice continental breakfast with do it yourself Belgian waffles. We enjoyed it and would go back.

There's always something to say about staying in a piece of history. If you are expecting central AC, walk-in showers or ceiling fans, then you need to upgrade to the Penthouse. But the beds were extremely comfortable, the grounds and inside are very well kept and their continental breakfast had a very nice variety of just about anything you wished. Even make-your-own waffles. I spent a significant amount of time reading the historical clippings and seeing the photos from over the decades that were hanging in the hallways. Plus - they have excellent golfing packages for many nearby golf courses. Can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: Though the front of the Lodge faces the street, Sebring is normally a quiet town and it still mainta...
