“Great Location, good price, clean, friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

Just completed a 4 night stay. The beds were so comfortable. Rooms large and clean - we had 2 double beds and there were 2 small couches, a ottoman and a desk chair. Also a frig and microwave. The complimentary breakfast was very good. Staff was very helpful. The wi-fi had problems a few times, after storms. When this occurred we told the desk, who helped us print our boarding passes from their reception desk computer, then called in the problem and it was corrected within the hour. Great location too, close to downtown and the Ringling Brother's museum, and Siesta Key too. Good value. The pool was simple. Did not use it. no hot tub. Pool area ok for swimming, but not much else. Also secure. There was a guard that walked around the building at night. Room access from hallways within the hotel.
I would stay here again.

We booked a room here for three nights. We checked in the first night at about midnight and when we got to the room, the air conditioning wasn't working. But a call to the front desk and they sent someone immediately to correct it and it worked fine after that. It was an average room that was showing some wear, but the bed was comfy. Yes, they do allow pets and at times you heard some barking, but it didn't last long and was not annoying at all. The breakfast served in the mornings looked good, but we just had coffee. The grounds are nicely kept and they have a night guard walking around the parking lot to keep all the cars safe. Matter of fact, when we got there the first night at midnight, all the parking spots were full and the guard was kind enough to let us park the car right by the front door to the lobby. The pool area was clean and nicely landscaped. We would definitely stay here again.

The location is great. It's about 5 minutes South of the airport and about 15 minutes from plenty of beaches. We were on vacation with friends and visited our grandmother in Bradenton quite frequently and easily. Lots of nearby attractions, jungle walks, museums, lots of restaurants I mean lots. Went from the Anna Marie Pier (you must go see it and have a drink!) all the way down to Siesta Key during our stay. The hotel is dog friendly and maybe I saw 5 dogs in 4 days. The room did have a strange smell, by day 3 it was maybe a mix of overcooked rice bags and dog? I know, weird comparison. Breakfast bar had a waffle maker, cereals, bagels and bread for toast, yogurt, muffins, juices and coffee. Better than some "free" breakfasts I've had.

I think someone said that this was once a rich-people motel bought by Laquinta. It still has some nice features. The foyer and breakfast area is very bright and inviting.

But you can see age. Some of the doors, furniture, and fixtures could be replaced.

I wonder if it would hurt them to take a rag and clean the windows and interior of the elevator every 5 years or so?

Carpet in the room looked pretty old. Couch in room was filthy enough that I wouldn't sit in it. Sink top was nice granite. Refrigerator was scratched, dinged, with rust spots. Microwave was about 40 years old.

Bed was fine. Shower was ok and didn't show much age.

My wife and I stayed at this La Quinta hotel last week whilst touring the surrounding area.
We were allowed to check inspite of being very early, reception area very clean and welcoming.
Our room was as you expect from La Quinta clean and nicely furnished but best of all overlooked the Gulf of Mexico.
Now its a personal thing for me but I didn't like dogs wandering round the ground floor and reception area with their owners, and from our fourth floor room window observed several dog owners allowing their pets to foul the grassy surroundings of the hotel.
For a central location the hotel is ideal, just a short drive to the old downtown shops and restaurants, the superb marina.

Room Tip: Fourth floor rooms over looking the Gulf

The hotel's fairly modern, although the location is on a seedy strip, not really close to downtown. On paper the place looks fine, but the rooms are old and dirty. Not the friendliest of staff, and the breakfast buffet is one of the worst I've seen. If you're looking to build up points with La Quinta, than so be it. Otherwise, I might try closer to downtown Sarasota.

Room Tip: Ten times zero is still zero. I'm not sure if there are any good rooms.
