“Tired holiday in a beautiful spot with some great staff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 10, 2012

We came here as a family for a weekend away from the theme park parks and such in Orlando. Firstly, its in a great location right on Lido beach. Cross over a fairly quiet road snd you're sat on beautiful sand overlooking the Gulf. The hotel however is very tired and the decor is outdated and shabby. Spend some money Holiday Inn! However, of special mention is Chuck the server in the restaurant (again amazing views in a tired room). Chuck was a delight and a very nice man. Charming, polite and professional. He made our breakfast enjoyable. Also Marjorie in the bar deserves a mention for being efficienpt and polite even when faced with some rather drunken guests...Finally horrendously noisy aircon units that sounded like a helicopter taking off.

My husband and I recently stayed at The Holiday Inn Sarasota - Lido Beach. It has the best location of any hotel or rental on the Key, and the view cannot be any better, (if your room is facing the Gulf). I have to pinch myself everytime I stand on my balcony because the view is dreamlike! This was my second time at this property and I would go love to come back again. It is also closer than all the other hotels/condos to St. Armands Circle. It can't be beat!!!!

Room Tip: Ask to have a Gulf view.

This hotel is not particularly attractive from the outside - it looks like a 1970's Russian housing block- but it looks on to the best area of lido beach and is within easy walking distance of st armand's circle.
Our room was spacious and comfortable but could do with an update. The staff were efficient and pleasant. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and the view from the restaurant is fabulous. We really enjoyed our stay here and would definitely recommend it.

We stayed here for four great days. The hotel was first class. The hotel staff were the best anyone could ask for. If we needed anything they were right there to assist. We had reserved the Lido room for sewing and they would make sure we had everything we needed. We welcomed guests that would stop by to see about all the goings on, and we had such a great time. They would lock up and watch the room when we made our way to our rooms at night and we never gave a thought to anyone stealing our precious stashes, and machines. A great big thanks for making this the best get away we could of asked for. Don't think twice about booking such a great place..

Room Tip: great view from the seventh floor, saw dolpins and the most beautiful sunsets.

You cant beat the location, right across from Lido Beach and walking distance to St Armands! The room was decent and clean but the ac needs improving. Would def stay here again, for the cost where else can you stay that is beach front. Front desk staff was friendly and Tiki bar staff friendly as well. Great burgers!

The view from this hotel is the only attraction. The hotel is a bit tired although I've seen worse. The service is lacking. I arrived late (8pm) after a long day. Checked in with my bags. I was told I would need to put a tag in my windshield for parking. No offer to watch my bags whilst I trailed back to the car. Then headed to my room. The number written on the key folder shows 206. Well 206 is occupied. Back downstairs. It is 226. Hmm funny how the first 2 and second 2 don't look at all alike. No apology. Bill is under the door in the morning with express check out but not with $0 balance so have to stop at front desk to receive receipt with $0. Little things do make a difference.

Hotel is nice cleaned up, nice room next to beach, walking distance to a great little small town of boutique shops and restaurants called St. Armand. Get the ocean side, for us in October 2012 an extra $20/night. Avg $155/night. Do not eat dinner in the restaurant, better to go hungry. The newly opened bottle of Pinot Noir was horrible. Food was worst than what I used to get in the army mess hall or any institution. My wife took one byte of her Talapia fresh fish and it tasted fishy and mushy. My chicken Marsala tasted like a chicken breast with grits poured over it. Desert came from a grocery Store but worse. Go in to town 4 blocks and get food from a real restaurant. They did take one dinner off but ruined a sunset dinner.

Room Tip: Get ocean gulf side top floors.

We appreciate your feedback, and thank you for the compliments of our staff and location. We are disappointed that you did not enjoy your dining experience with us. We work hard to deliver food service as wonderful as the view from the Sand Dollar Restaurant. Your comments will be shared with our team. Thank you.
