First, let me disclose that my husband is diamond (or whatever the top status is) with Hyatt, so we (being his wife and 2 kids) get to enjoy the perks of Daddy's constant travel. Hyatt treats their status customers well. But aside from that, I think this is a great hotel. As we drove up, the exterior wasn't impressive (compared to the Ritz across the canal) but they've done quite a nice remodel inside. We had a suite, which was fantastic, and I liked that we had a little balcony with chairs overlooking the water. The staff was so very attentive and kind... even the ones not knowing our status (always a bit cynical when traveling with my husband...). I hope I'm remembering his name correctly, but Derek, in the restaurant, was far and away the best employee we had interaction with; so nice and helpful and a wealth of information about the area. Breakfast was very good. The pool was fantastic for our kids, with a zero entry and a waterfall they could swim under. We loved being able to use bikes, kayaks and paddle boards (with the resort fee) although you are on a little canal that leads to the bay so it there isn't much to look at other than buildings. The beach is so close. We actually stayed 1 night at the Hyatt then moved over to Siesta Key for 2 nights and wound up coming back to the Hyatt for our last night (movie night in the pool!). We would definitely stay here again if we're in the area.
