“Great room and great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

We stayed here for 5 nights in early March. I was thrilled when I saw our glassed 'balcony'. A glass alcove overlooking the pool area which was beautiful. It was chilly so Loved that I could sit here,, read, and look out!! The room was generous, very clean and serviced promptly. Could not have asked for better service from the staff and enjoyed the Happy Hour cocktails and snacks.

Room Tip: Ycu can choose between and outside balcony or an indoor glassed alcove. Recommend rooms overlooking...

Decided to take a last minute trip to Sarasota, and were very pleased to be able to get a reservation on such short notice that included a 4th night for free. Hard to beat that! Although we arrived hours ahead of check-in time, our room was available. Huge King room with a balcony on the 6th floor, great view of the pool, marina and out to the Bay. Room was very nicely appointed and extremely comfortable. Loved the huge closet, and the fact that the nice big sink area was separate from the rest of the bathroom. Made for a most convenient dressing area. The rooms are well insulated from a noise perspective, even though we were opposite the elevator, you wouldn't have known it. The hotel is very centrally located for whatever you might want to do. You can walk to downtown, and it's just a short car ride to beaches and other attractions.
The pool area is small but very attractive and we always found a place to sit. The Hurricane Hut next to the pool offers a nice selection of food and drinks. Currents restaurant offers a nice selection for breakfast and good service. All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. My only negative was the very large business group who completely inundated the small lobby bar in the evening. But, otherwise, a great stay and worth the price.

Room Tip: Go for a high floor and view toward the Marina.

I stayed here 5 nights for a conference. The lobby is beautiful. The service was very good. It sits on a marina surrounded by some condos and a few other hotels. The pool and surrounding area is fantastic. Directly next door is what appears to be a closed up building and a large vacant lot (?). My room needed a little TLC. I believe the place recently had a huge makeover but perhaps the reduced conference rates precluded me from staying in one of the madeover rooms (????). The bathroom was tiny. There were some loose bathroom fixtures and the rug was a tad worn. The bathroom had some peeling paint around the shower and the tub had some chips and cracks here and there. The bed was very comfortable. The balcony was awesome.

Thank you for your feedback. The entire hotel was renovated in 2008. While there have been a few minor facelifts to the property, all of the rooms were done at the same time so other than a balcony/no balcony or ADA/non-ADA room or a suite, all of the rooms are the same. Our Engineering and Housekeeping departments work hard to maintain our facility so your comments will certainly be shared and improvements made to your room specifically. The vacant lot that you are referring to used to be the site of the Quay. There are discussion to build on that lot but nothing has been confirmed at this point. Thanks again for staying with us and we hope to see you back soon.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review and I'm glad to hear you were traveling with your dog! We have seen an increase in our pet program last year and has carried over to this year as well. The next time you return, if you walk out of the hotel and turn left, there is a good lot for your dog to run in as well.

Just spent 9 days at the hyatt sarasota,we cannot fault it.The front desk were always helpfull,we were upgraded to a balcony room which was lovely. The pool area is a bit small but this isnt really a problem they do a daily shuttle to the beach and back which is good.We also found the bar staff to be very friendly they have always got a smile on there faces even though they have been there for 25 years each which we found amazing. All in all this is a good hotel theres alot of hotels who could learn from them.

Room Tip: The back of the hotel is facing south which is the sunny side

We stayed at they Hyatt Regency for 7 nights with our two kids, ages 13 and 6. Super nice staff, esp Victoria at the front desk - she is a gem! She always had wonderful suggestions for restaurants, things to do, routes for running, etc. Outdoor pool is heated and very warm, so we were able to swim a lot even though temps were in the mid-60s to mid-70s. The pool is a fun shape with a waterfall at one end. Super close to downtown Sarasota with lots of great restaurants. Short drive to beaches (and hotel has a shuttle to local beach, but we did not use it). Beds were super comfy. Very clean and quiet. Negatives are that rooms have no microwave and coffee is not very good -- otherwise a fantastic hotel! We will definitely stay here again if we are in Sarasota.

This is an upscale hotel and very nice inside. it's not on the beach so keep that in mind. Pool area is a bit small and they closed half of it due to a wedding but gave us one free drink on order to move to another location. overall, very nice. A bit pricey but you get what you pay for!
