“A Great Place to Unwind”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

Great breakfasts in the front alcove overlooking Sarasota Bay, friendly hosts, beautifully, if eclectically, decorated rooms (we stayed in the Mango Suite, which opens into the back garden). Convenient to all the major sights and beaches; walking distance from historic downtown Sarasota and the botanical gardens. An all-around wonderful experience.

The Cypress B&B is a delightfully charming, well maintained inn right in the center of historic Sarasota. It has beautiful views of the water at sunset, which can only be improved with the complimentary drinks and hors d'oeuvres that are served on the porch. The breakfast is delicious and satisfying. The staff is knowledgeable and very eager to help. They have resources and first hand knowledge regarding the area which made our visit fun and fascinating. (You definitely need to reserve a whole day to see The Ringling Museum.) Our room was spacious and well appointed. We had a wonderful time, and look forward to our next visit.

Haven't stayed in a B+B in ages, and this place may start a new trend for us. Loved this little jewel and the people who run it are a blast. Superb location, and I especially like the access to the Burns court area, including the restaurants and great independent theatre.

My wife and I spent three terrific nights in the Martha Rose room in February 2013. Our stay couldn't have been better. The room was beautifully decorated with personal antiques and had a view of the bay. The Inn is nestled between two multiple story condos but when you're in the room or sitting on the front porch you don't realize they are there because of the plantings and trees on the property. The Inn is exceptionally well maintained inside and out. The owners of the Inn, Vickie, Nina and Robert were wonderful hosts. They made our stay comfortable and fun. Truly great people. The Inn is conveniently located close to excellent restaurants and attractions. We walked to many of them. You can't go wrong with the recommendations of the owners or the staff especially Judy. By the way, all the staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were terrific and the service was excellent. The highlight of each day was the "cocktail hour" between 6 and 7 PM. Enjoy wine, hors d'oeuvres, and the specialty of the house-"mango fandangos" while watching the sun set over the bay. Life doesn't get any better then that. We will visit again and will recommend the Cypress Inn to any of our friends and family traveling to Sarasota.

Almost invisible between tall condo buildings, this little quaint cottage of southern comfort and hospitality is a wonderful surprise. Even the natives to Sarasota don't know it's there. Five bedrooms, each with a private bath, but only one was open when we booked. (Book EARLY!) We loved our upstairs bedroom with a tiny balcony, and it's view of the bay through a tall tropical tree. The hosts provided the very best linens on the high four-poster bed, which highlighted a tastefully decorated room of beautiful antique furniture and accessories. Downstairs the unpretentious but comfortable sitting room, prominently displayed a collection of "vintage" string instruments. The grounds were so inviting with lots of tropical vegetation. Wicker chairs and tall rockers accented the lawn & porches. Rt 41 separated our country lawn from Sarasota Bay, but a short walk to a stoplight, permitted easy access to the beautiful bayside park. Wine and appetizers were served at 6 pm to all guests. In the breakfast room filled with tiny linen-covered tables for two, we were served a delicate gourmet breakfast befitting the style and detail of the lovely bayside country home. We hope to return soon!

Room Tip: I suggest that you call and talk with your hosts personally to pick the best room for you. Let them...

As close to perfection as you can get - wonderful friendly and helpful owners & staff. Nothing was too much trouble and the breakfasts were delicious. We stayed 5 nights and each meal was equally different and delicious. The location is exactly right, 15 minutes to the many Main Street restaurants as well as just across from the Bayfront. Probably the best B&B we've stayed in in the US.

Room Tip: All the rooms are excellent, we had the Martha Rose Suite which faces the bay, and is very spacious.

I thought the rooms were a bit shabby for the price..however the innkeepers were lovely, as well as the breakfast. We had booked this for some overseas visitors who were traveling with us, and were a bit shocked at the appearance of the Inn give its online rating!!!

Room Tip: We only saw two rooms.
