Description: Welcome to OPA! OPA!, Where we provide an authentic Greek dining experience and treat our guests like family! We are a family run Greek restaurant that opened its doors in 2013 and serves the Gulf Gate area of Sarasota, FL and beyond. When you walk in our restaurant, you will immediately feel the warmth and family atmosphere we have created. We pride ourselves on serving only high quality, homemade, and fresh food. We truly care about our guests and know them on a first name basis; many have become like family to us. Our cozy restaurant is run by a husband and wife team, along with a few trusted and valued employees. Michele oversees the front of the restaurant, while Yanni doubles as our Executive Chef and brings over 20 years of experience to our business. Many of our recipes are straight from his mother's village in Peloponnese, Greece. We offer a wide variety of traditional Greek cuisine and a collection of Greek wines you are sure to love! All of our meals are made-to-order by Yanni himself and will surely leave you feeling satisfied. Our goal is to serve our guests a meal "just like Yiyia used to make" and for you to leave here feeling like part of our family. You can dine in or carry out; let our family serve your family! Your Hosts, Michele and Yanni Haralampopoulos

“A Great Find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2014

We are staying in Sarasota in the Gulf Gate area - so we were interested in another reviewers mention of Gulf Gate. This area is also easy to get to from Siesta Key via the Stickney Point (south) bridge. We went there for lunch and it was excellent! My husband had a lamb gyro and it was huge! The lamb is seasoned perfectly and the sauce was delicious. When he first saw it he said "I'll never eat all that" - but it was too good not to finish! I helped him out a little, so I know it truly was delicious :) I got a Greek salad, and it was the best Greek salad ever! What made it exceptional was the salad dressing. I often find the dressing on a Greek salad is too vinegar-y and has way too much oregano seasoning. This dressing is perfectly balanced and didn't overwhelm the other ingredients. We can't wait to go back for dinner!

“great addition to Gulfgate”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2014

If you live in Sarasota you know how hard it is to find restaurants that will seat and serve you after 8 p.m. during the week. Well, here is a place to add to your list. 6 of us had dinner there on Wednesday and had a wonderful evening. We came in as their last guests, left 2 hours later and had a tasting tour of all of Chef Yani's favorites. We tasted the mixed appetizers, Saganaki and got a taste of grilled Octopus. Then moved into our main courses. The lamb shank is melt in your mouth. The mixed taster plate is a large portion, would lend itself well to sharing. One of us had the grilled half chicken, full of Mediterranean flavors. Don't miss the garlic mashed potatoes. Yani fixed a surprise fig phyllo dough cheese desert. We are already planning the next visit with our Ethnic dinner group.

“Best Greek I've had!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2014 via mobile

We saw the excellent reviews for Opa! Opa! while we were in Sarasota so gave it a try. We were very impressed with the pita bread as appetizer, greek salad with great feta and the main courses. It was very authentic and probably the best Greek we've ever ate.

“The best lamb chops ever!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2014

My wife and I concurred that her lamb chops were fantastic in every way. An absolutely super dish.

My lamb shank was cooked perfectly but I would have preferred more seasoning.

The pita bead was so good that I couldn't resist getting it replenished throughout dinner.

I'm giving an overall rating of 4 instead of 5 because the side veggies were not served extremely hot, unlike the main courses.

Michelle, the owner's wife, was most attentive, efficient and pleasant.

We would be regulars if we lived in the area.
