“Quiet park away from the bustle”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

This is the place to go if you want to enjoy a beach and park without the hassleof crowds, and there's no hassle finding a parking spot. Hard to believe it's so close to St. Armand's Circle, yet so far the crowds. There is a lovely walk through the area which is generally empty ! You'll see the odd racoon and squirrel, and a heron or pelican or two. NO NOT FEED THE ANIMALS ! The racons are fun to watch, but should not be encouraged, and if you try to feed the squirrels that will simply attract the 'coons ! Picnic tables and washrooms and a water hoses to wash off the sand - perfect.

“Very Clean & Shady!”

Great use of this end of Lido Key! There's places to BBQ, fish & just relax! We once saw a small shark here...and snakes!

“A Hiden Gem”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2013

At the south end of Lido Key, Sarasota, is the South Lido County Park. Lots of parking, shaded picnic area, lots of tables, grills, and seating. Once into the park, take a pathway to the right towards the Gulf beach, the take a left and follow the waterline. It goes along the Gulf, then takes a left along the inlet to Sarasota Bay. Walk all the way to the end (about 1/2 mile), and enjoy watching boats, fishermen, and the several tall, grey herons that hang out here. At the end are two benches, which make a nice place to rest before heading back. At low tide, you can continue past the benches into the mangrove swamp areas, watching out for the many small crabs that hang out there.

“One of my favorite places.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

I have been going to South Lido Park for 25 years. My Uncle and his Girlfriend took us there the first time. We pretty much had the run of the place and it was unspoiled and cool. The nude beach was just around the east side, you would rarely see that anymore. I have taken my two children here every year since they were born. It is one of the few beaches that you can get as much sun as you want and then move twenty feet and you are in the cool shade of Florida pine trees. The fishing is good there especially when the tide is ripping through the pass. The best spot is at the point which is the far western end of the park where the pass meets the gulf. There are many signs saying no swimming which is good advice because the tide moves pretty fast sometimes. You can still wade out and relax in the water without danger. There are charcoal grills and picnic tables so you can have a picnic. There are many types of birds that are residents of the park and there is an abundance of racoons. (some say too many but they have never bothered me). There is a childrens jungle gym and washrooms. On weekdays the place is empty and on weekends it fills up with locals, some drive their cars and others just pull up in their boats. It is a really special place, pack a lunch and a cooler and have fun.

“Nature preserve in built-up area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

Just down from the condo towers, this park has all the unspoiled beach you could wish for. Lots of free parking. Nice bath houses. And some herons walking around.
