“Fantastic find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2011

A fantastic find! A family run Italian restaurant with truly authentic and fabulous food! You can taste the freshness of all the sauces, and you walk past their herb garden coming into the restaurant. Very nice menu selection. We all loved this restaurant, and will be definitely going back many times. Mama Mia!

“Would never go back again.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2011

We ordered a glass of the house Merlot...$5.00. Was later charged $6.95 instead.
14 year old waiter asked if we wanted more bread...we said yes...later charged $1.95 for the bread. Never had this happen in a restaurant before. THEN they charged an 18% gratuity on the total bill which included the sales tax. Rip off! Are 14 year olds allowed to serve alcohol?

“Our new first choice for Italian in Sarasota”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2011

After reading the recent reviews here we decided to give it a try. We made a reservation for last Saturday and it was honored when we arrived. It is a smaller restaurant . When we arrived there was a party of 9 and 1 of the 3 remaining tables of 4 were taken. Not soon after our arrival the last table of 4 was filled. I am mentioning this because the owner/chef's 2 children were the only servers that night. They seemed to be ages 12 and 15 but were actually doing a decent job serving the parties.
All four of us ordered 2 Caesar salads to split after confirming that they were large enough and they were. The very good dressing seemed homemade but the parmigiana was bottled and not shaved, a minor let down.
Two of use had the porcini mushroom raviolis in a porcini cream. One had the linguine with a white clam sauce and my wife her usual veal pharm. with vegis
The porcini raviolis were homemade and the best mushroom raviolis I have ever had. The insides were dark and earthy. The pasta envelopes were al dente. The sauce was heavenly tasting earthy like the raviolis but not heavy or overpowering.
Our friend's linguine with clams came over al dente linguine. The sauce was made with 20+ small fresh clams that he said was perfect. My wife's veal parm. was tender with 2 nice sized pieces covered by an excellent sauce and a nice cheese coating. We also enjoyed the complimentary limoncello.
This is how an Italian restaurant should be. Momma in the kitchen, Papa working the wines and the cash register and the boys serving. All in all...our new #1 for Italian now!!!

“Fantastic New Italian Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2011

The name is the same, the chef is different. And the food is superb. Bellagio's is now operated by a small family, recently from Italy -- and from an Italian restaurant they operated there. They have an extensive menu. The meals are freshly prepared and wonderfully presented. Large portions with fresh items that are enhanced by their small herb garden just outside the back door. Four of us had four different dishes and we each raved about how much we enjoyed our own dish. A complimentary glass of limoncello at the end was a lovely touch. Will we go back? Absolutely.

“New owners - great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2011

Having lived in Tuscany for 14 years, I was delighted to have an authenic Italian meal here in Sarasota. My two dining companions also lived in Italy and praised Bellagio for it's authenic feel. Our very pleasant server was the young son of the owners. Mother is the cook. My friends and I shared a fresh and crispy fried calamari appetizer. The lasagna I ordered came with a bechamell and light tomato sauce. It was excellent. A wonderful house made limoncello is currently being offered free with dinner. Conveniently located near the city hall and down town. Free parking in the back of the restaurant.
