“Friendly service and fresh selections”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

In a non-descript corner of a shopping center on Fruitville and Lime is a delightful breakfast and lunch spot that delivers fresh food, friendly service and reasonable prices seven days a week. This updated version of the original Silver Star has new owners, a retro '50s interior and daily specials that run the gamut from fluffy tropical pancakes to homemade soups and stews. My favorite choices are the omelettes, which start at $4.95 and feature sauteed vegetables and a choice of potatoes, grits or fruit without an up charge. Brandy's biscuits, a stuffed homemade breakfast sandwich, always sell out. And if you choose to dine on Fridays, the homemade fish and three-cheese macaroni and cheese are unrivaled,
Manager Brandy also makes the homemade desserts and ensures that the service is friendly and fast. She and owner Toni make Silver Star feel like a home away from home and have a loyal following year-round. In season, there may be a wait for seats during breakfast rush. This little urban oasis is defintely worth a visit.

“Great Food, Great Service, Great Great Great!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

I've been going to the Silver Star for over 20 years. I always enjoyed it under the old ownership even though I had to overlook the fact that it seemed run down.
Well the new owner's have changed that and the place is crisp and clean. Some have commented that they miss the Greek offerings but I can say without a doubt there are so many wonderful choices on the menu there is nothing missing at all!
The food is EXCELLENT, generous portions, and the service is Gold Star worthy!

“Great Local Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2012

Took a chance at the Silver Star and found it to be a very cute breakfast and lunch spot. Nicely decorated and very clean, our waitress, Tina, was very friendly and also helpful in making our breakfast selections. It was a great choice. You can tell by the number of repeat, neighborhood customers who visit often. I suggest the Brandy Breakfast Biscuits, but I doubt if you could go wrong at this little gem.

“Silver Star - where's the Greek?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012

I used to go to the old Silver Star Restaurant for its spinach pie and baklava and it was fabulous. Was so disappointed to find that they did not keep it on the menu. The new Silver Star has a basic American menu, burgers, salads, grilled sandwiches and breakfast. I had a Rueben and it was good, but if you are going there expecting to see Greek food on the menu, you will be disappointed - there is none.
