“Good restaurant-worth the wait”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2013

Plan to wait for a seat, this is a very popular restaurant. Everyone in the party liked their food, although I thought the fried chicken was a little bland. Expected a little more flavor based on reviews. Portions are large. Service was very good drinks were kept full, a little slow on bringing the check.

“Great Food - but average service on this visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2013

I have lived in Sarasota for over 20 years and Yoder's has always been consistent. The Amish cooking does not include a lot of spice...it is basic, good home cooking. There is salt and pepper on the table and you can even request Tabasco.

There is ALWAYS a wait at Yoder's even off-season.

The portions are generous, everything is made fresh from tried and true family recipes.

My recent visit was the first in more than 5 years and I came with someone new to town who really wanted to give Yoder's a try - he was NOT disappointed. The food was as good as I remember it being previously and I was delighted to see some new Summer dishes that looked fantastic.

Our server on this visit left quite a bit to be desired. She advised she has been with Yoder's for 3 years and must be making it since they are always so busy. If she worked in any other lesser-known restaurant, she probably would be leaving with near empty pockets for not earning good tips.

No doubt we will go back as my friend raved about how great his meal was - having worked in the restaurant business as a waiter and a manager in Orlando some time back, he said that we will make sure we tell the hostess we do NOT want this server again.

Please support Yoder's - the food is good. Do not give any weight to those who complain about waiting to get a table and who use improper grammar and the word "suck" too much in their review - smiles

Thanks so much for your visit and for taking the time to share your experience.
We're so happy to hear that the food was great. Needless to say, hearing that the service was not up to par is upsetting. One of our number one goals is to serve great food with great service. Do you happen to remember the name of the waitress that you had?
We would love to follow up on this issue and make any corrections that may be needed.

“Hawaiian Chicken Salad!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

The Hawaiian Chicken Salad is wonderful! The bites of pineapple are nice and refreshing for a summer lunch.
As always the apple pie stole the show.

“Great great grandmas cooking and decor”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013 via mobile

I agree with most of the positive reviews...try the peanut butter cream pie...excellent...been twice in 3 weeks...food was plentiful and charming in a 19th century kind of way. now to modern issues of dietary concerns...was told they had a gluten free menu (3 in my family have Celiac) trusted it the first visit but on the second visit was told by waiter that the chef suggests we don't eat the corn as the starch in it would be unsuitable???? What does that mean? Corn and butter are gluten free! So I asked if their gluten free fries are fried in the place they fry the breaded items and was told yes...really? So much for gluten free...for our family it isn't a matter of choice, it is a must that we can trust the menu...won't be returning to Yoder's but I'm not sure it matters as they are lined up at all times of day. Good for them, but be careful if you have a serious dietary concern as it seems the kitchen is not well versed in cross contamination with regards to gluten in our case.

“bad food”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2013

The food at yoders was old & cold chichen was not even done. Told the waiter take it back tried the turkey looked liked they throwed the food on the plate. No taste & cold told the waiter take it back. They ask if I wanted to try something else I said I was afraid to try any thing else. I had my 87 year old dad with us it took to long to get into the restaurant & to long to get the food to us that was no good. The waiter came back to the table & said she talked to the manager & that he said the food that we did not eat was free . We walked out never saw the manager but who cares the place sucked never go back there again wow ps there meatloaf sucked also tasted like dog food stay away from this place who cares about there pies. After thirty years of being in business they should close the place down.
