For our Friday lunch we surveyed our favorite rating system - Trip Advisor - for a unique place for lunch that was "different". We love French prepared foods and the reviews highly acclaimed this small little establishment as a good place and we highly agree. It is small but intimate. You order at the counter and then sit at one of the indoor or outdoor tables and the owners prepare the food and then come around and deliver it to you at your small table.
There were about 4 different quiche dishes already awaiting review and ordering. I chose a spinach quiche piece and included a side order of salad. My wife chose the caprese salad which had the cheese, dressing and tomato in it and was a good portion. I chose an "Americano" style coffee. I had requested an Italian coffee based on some other reviews, but must have misunderstood as they said that they did not have that. My wife chose a flavored soda which was unique. You can choose from about 6 or 8 diifferent flavorings and it isn't a sweet flavor but was a refreshing soda (sparkling water type; not just sweetened) different drink.
We had arrived about 11:45 on this Friday, a business day and had anticipated that it would be packed but much to our surprise it had plenty of tables to choose from. We sat at one while the food was prepared and just chatted at what a cute French style cafe this appeared to be. Never having been to France, our impression was a very good one on what to expect if we ever get to France. Art on the walls varied and some had a French flair to them. Very intersting that they also had a file of unframed prints in the corner; we assume for sale but did not review them.
Other guests seemed to be enjoying the day too; whether reviewing business details or just socializing. Our food arrived in a quick manner and other guests arrived and sat down. We thoroughly enjoyed the intimate lunch. The dressing on the salads was very sweet and we enjoyed it. After competing the meal we decided to review the fresh baked desserts in the bakery display case up at the ordering location. By this time, every table was occupied; so our impression was it is a very popular place for a lunch in this downtown area. I couldn't make up my mind on which dessert to choose, as there were lots of choices so I opted for 1 piece of a blackberry/rasberry style pie and a piece of an apple pie. Again, I paid for them, then sat down while our order was worked into the schedule as many more orders were in process from the other patrons. The desserts arrived, very nicely prepared and presentation was first class. We tried both, the berry was our favorite. Neither was very sweet; just a hint of it, but very pleasing.
They had a gelato cart area in one corner available if you desire; we had our fill and decided that we had no more room for anything else and departed. It was a very refreshing and totally enjoyable experience. We wish the owners well and much success and hope others patronize them and have as good of an experience as we did.
