“stunning luxury escape”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

Just returned from 2 beautiful days and nights at the Ritz Carlton in Sarasota - by far the most impressive and elegant property we've visited. Best part about our trip was the Ritz Beach Club for members and hotel guests - only a short 3-mile drive from the main property -- from the massive pool complex, to the oceanfront tiki bar, the Beach Club couldn't have been more relaxing or enjoyable. The resort staff and servers were extremely friendly and always ready to help. As a special surprise, my husband and I returned to our room the first night to find a cute cupcake dessert after a staffer overheard it was my birthday. What a special treat to feel pampered and treated like royalty. We can't wait for a return visit to the Ritz Sarasota!

Room Tip: Request a waterview room overlooking the marina - it's worth the extra.

The entrance and rooms are very nice and the staff is very good. Unfortunately, the hotel faces N/S, so that most of the guests don't get a view of the sun rising or setting from their balconies. You would have to be in a room on the North/West side to get the view of the sun setting and shield you from the constant traffic noise. This is the one time where a room facing the harbor (North side) is better than facing the Gulf.
We faced South which meant there was a 15 floor condo blocking a beautiful view of the marina and Gulf. Not only that but the traffic and outside workers noise made the balcony area not enjoyable to sit and relax at any time of the day or evening.
We stayed Wed-Sat.
The restaurant food and service is very good. Just don't order a Mojito, worst I have ever had, made worse by how much I was charged.
I don't know why hotels everywhere insist on playing loud music in the pool and outside areas. Usually, people want to read, talk or just plain relax. Pumping out loud, obnoxious music does not create a nice environment.
Also, Hotels have got to do something about the insulation in the hallways to prevent constant noise of guests closing their doors and talking loudly.

Room Tip: Get a room facing North or West only. Facing East or South will be a lot of traffic noise.

The only reason I marked down the location is because it is not on the ocean as you might expect to be in Sarasota. It is close to downtown and right on the causeway that takes you into the shopping and restaurant square. This is a great hotel. The dinners are excellent. The staff is eager to please.

Last april we were in Sarasota and staid in the Ritz Carlton, Sarasota on the club level.
The club lounge was really excellent. Nice cheese, a choise of sweets, perfect quiche, a nice choice.... everything was fresh and very well presented. The staff is really professionell and tries to make your stay very enjoyable. I can say that it is one of the club levels I have enjoyed the most and I have already done some in other countries than the USA. SUPER !!!!

Booked here by our travel agent and really looked forward to some 5* facilities and comfort after mixed accommodations on this road trip. Got to our room and realised we had a city view (no view of city, plenty of air conditioning units) so asked if we could upgrade at our cost to a water view for the 2 nights. Room itself looked OK, not particularly spacious, and certainly not with the type of luxurious furnishings that we were expecting in a Ritz Carlton, but we had a harbour view - then the problems started. The room allocated had phone that didn't work (and we had several calls we needed to make), furniture and items of equipment missing. We got back from dinner to find no turn down service or fresh towels, but even worse when we went to get into bed, we found dirty and stained bedding!!! We moved to the next door room after seeing the duty manager Abby who was embarrassed and apologetic about the whole episode, but by that time our evening was ruined. And that was the first night. The next day we went to the Beach Club...crowded, full of kids....at a 5* resort could there not have been a small Adults Only area? We had had some great drinks at the bar on the first night made and served by Alina who was great company. so we went back for drinks before going out for dinner the second night, only to have fewer drinks and be charged more!!! (not by Alina). We questioned this and the member of staff said we must have asked for a different spirit......we hadn't. So that left a very bad taste also. When we came back from dinner, we found 2 drinks in the room with a note saying "sorry for the misunderstanding". We didn't drink these on principle and asked for them to be removed. Everyone is very sorry, but it was not a 5 star experience, we had an awful time and we had paid top dollar for this stay. I would say that some of the valet and doormen staff were really friendly and helpful, as was Alina at the bar, and Abby the duty manager for both nights we were there. The resort itself is beautiful, and we thought it was going to be one of the high spots of our stay. When we came to check out we found that the upgrade charge and the wrong drinks bill had been taken off the final bill, but we still feel really ripped off having paid for 5* service and received 2* service.

Room Tip: There must be other hotels offering the same views and better service at less money......

I am not even sure how to begin. We stayed at this hotel many times. My daughter's wedding was celebrated here. We arrived on Sunday after approximately one year absence. Nothing seems out of ordinary. Nice friendly usual welcome from doormen. Easy and fast registration. Then we walked towards the elevators and noticed something different about this place. We took a closer look and saw a new restaurant, new terrace, new furniture. We could not believe our eyes. It looked like Holliday Inn or Hyatt . So out of character and out of place it is just unbelievable. How can anyone replace D flawless diamond with cubic zirconium ?
We are not sure if we will be coming back here again.

Fantastic property with superior service. No staff-person let me walk by without asking me how I was or needed assistance (and not in that annoying shoe-salesman way). Stayed for 2 nights for a wedding. Room was immaculate, pool upkeep and service, restaurant offerings were delicious.

Highly suggested for reception/event space. Our plated dinner was some of the best I have ever had. High fives to Mariela, Mari and more!

Spa/Salon services and hospitality were some of the best I have ever experienced.

Two days back into work and still wishing I was sitting by the pool!
