Glowing reviews, a groupon and an anniversary dinner with my wife, what could be better? Well, the sushi could have been. The soft-shell crab was well cooked and crunchy but bland, both as an appetizer and in the spider roll. The tiny slivers of eel were lost in the rice and sauce of the eel roll. The salmon on the rainbow roll was sliced so thinly it was transparent, as was the sashimi sampler. The pickled seaweed was very good and crunchy, but a bit sweet to eat more than half an order. Everything was pleasant and edible, but the quantity of the main protein in every dish was well below the norm.
Our server was very good. Despite limited English, she went out of her way to describe the food, and even talked about the baseball on the TV above the sushi bar and the cute toddler at another table.
I can't review the hibachi table menu, but the folks eating at the tables seemed to be enjoying themselves. If you're visiting town, hanging around the circle, and haven't seen the shtick at the hibachi section a million times, it's probably a good time. For sushi however, Utamaro's, Kazoo's, JoTo's and Kyoshi's are within 5 miles and are all far superior.
